I doubt Toews plays hockey again
regardless of whether lowry centers the 2nd line or 3rd line, it will still lowrys responsibility to matchup against the other teams top line. if lowry stays as 2C, then the third line needs to find a bit more identity in a scoring sense instead of a typical bottom 6 line.
Need something big in a two way player period? Another Lowry type with more scoring ability.

We don’t need anymore offensive players we need to trade Stanley and send henola down to the minors when Miller and flurry are back and then trade for a big defensive man like a begosion or Spomeone like that
Lowry is the 2c. And he's awesome at it. Enough about Jets needing a 2c. It's done. Brilliantly done.
What chevy most likely will do even though I wish he would get a big name like a Barzal/Horvat,Cozens/Byram.
Is now keep Lowry 2C wait til other teams make deals and get what's left.
Other teams will over pay Kadri,Miller,Gourde,Laughton,Granlund.
And maybe chevy aquire a Nyquist,Hall,Teravainen,Bjorkstrand,Dach a guy who makes sense is Tyler Bertuzzi he's signed 3 yrs at 5.4m can play 2nd line wing if Ehlers,Iafallo,Appleton who are UFA leave.
Maybe a Strome depending interest.
But on D get rid of Stanley already get a bottom 3 dman Savard,Dumoulin type. Even though I'd prefer a Byram,Parayko,Sanheim,Pulock,Provorov.

I read an article about 2 days ago that the jets are prioritizing defenceman on deadline day. We need upgrade on blue line and penalty kills.
A lot can happen between now and the trade deadline, but with what happened last year, I think we need to look at the defense and maybe a depth forward (like JT). GO JETS GO!
That’s great they found there second line centre! Now let’s find a better defence man than Stanley!!
Appleton belongs on the fourth line he is the weakest link
Jets got burned by Monahan and Toffoli last year – sometimes the best trades are the ones you don't make
Lowry is not a long-term solution at 2C. He's looked good filling in, but he's a checking 3C. And in the playoffs, you need a second line that can score. The last game was a prime example. The second line was good together, but couldn't finish their chances. And that was against the Kraken. Against the Avs, Stars, Kings, Oilers or Knights in a best of 7, they won't be so lucky.
Ehlers with a grittier set of line mates is already looking awesome.

To me, Lowry is our 2C. He's been that for a while in TOI and now he's filling that role with Ehlers…if we need more offensive help or another shut-down forward, they can be found in trades, and it might even work to put in someone who does similar things to what Lowry did when he was paired with Appleton and Nino. Adam has proven that he can play with Nik and he's also bringing out the defensive awareness even more in Nik, and with the goal tonight, Lowry's points continue to rise steadily, without the help of Appy and Nino and he's still doing all his defensive work, just now it's with Nik.
I also think there's a component many sports commentators are missing… Lowry would never turn away the chance to play with a teammate like Ehlers. That makes him different from the other centres (past and present). Remember PLD? He didn't want to centre a line with Ehlers. Neither does Scheif. Lowry has provided steady leadership in the defending part of Nik's assignment and Nik is thriving beside Lowry. He's also come back to life, it shows in his face. I think it makes a difference to whether he re-signs with the Jets.
Jets need a 2C. Lowry is not that. Give Ehlers a proper Centre. Jets have THE WORST GM IN THE NHL. Sitting on his hands watching a crap D core for months and Helle stealing games. Any other Owner would have fired this Dud.
