Right now, 3rd. And with UB winning multiple bowl games in the past few years, watch out… (i know at this point in history it seems crazy, and maybe this message wont 'age well'), but because of the lack of a quality product with the Sabres. People have the Internet, this isnt the 70s or 80s, people can see other NHL games and understand what a great product the nHL has, but not in Buffalo… and the attendance numbers for the league , they should have known when they got forced into taking D men #1 overall in a draft, look back in history! I only went back to 1979, but not ONE d man picked #1 overall ever won a cup with the team that drafted him… you can't sell your consumers on magic beans. Still , some people in local media, and in the Buffalo area still STILL think Jack Eichel was anywhere near McDavid in talent, or class makes me truly ponder whats going on. The problem is, NOW there is no HOPE for a true generational talent , or the next 'phenom' forward where Buffalo would have best odds to obtain… lost out on Crosby with highest odds, and McDavid…and this is what happens when you dont get that true #1 forward. Just ask the Vancouver Canucks when they lost out on Perreault….YET Vancouver have appeared in more Stanley Cup Finals than Buffalo… Buffalo lost out on Drury And Briere, then when EDM offered Vanek, they should have let him go and gobbled those picks, because YES, even EDM have been to the Finals more recently than Buffalo…i know this might cause anger, and the fans tend to fight each other than hold the Sabres team and organization responsible. The Bills are saving the fans from this city from going absolutely crazy in their heads with all the losing. The Bandits have always had a good following since the 90s…with a small period that dipped down….but if you have a good product, the people will show up! The fans know they're not getting the best product from the hockey team.

Listen if Bandits were just a slighty above average team that didnt go all the way in their playoffs then nobody would give two shits about them. It because they are a winning franchise that people put them on a pedestal. Lacrosse isnt that exciting of a sport and thats why they have to play music during play because otherwise it would be super boring.
Honestly, i think to ask this question is basically to answer it. I do think the popularity of the bandits demonstrates that the sabres would absolutely blow up if they became halfway decent. But for now, ive been to both teams live, and many knighthawks games as well, and frankly the sabres games are bunk in comparison.

It is absolutely mind blowing that these 3 franchises, all have the same Owner, yet the Bills & Bandits continue to dominate and the Sabres are still a complete joke
The Sabres as a group are embarrassing/ cringy to watch. They are weak mentally/ physically and often unwatchable.
