I think you need to bring back up Nicks previous discussion on the Matthews situation!
This Canuck drama seems to be more about Miller than Miller and Petey. When asked about their relationship Petey got visibly frustrated at having to answer the question. Almost as if he felt, as Boudreau stated last night on TSN, that the media had overblown the entire story. "Mountains out of mole hills" was the phrase Boudreau chose.
Now, Petey also came out and publicly declared his interest in staying in Vancouver – while JT Miller is still his teammate by the way. Nobody thought that was strange? Miller didn't publicly declare his interest in staying and took a leave of absence.
Now we all know Canadian NHL markets are a fishbowl, of which the media plays a significant role, and many point to Vancouver as the most aggressively microscopic. I can't help but think this is far less about Miller and Petey and more about Miller and the media. I'd bet Miller has had enough of people like Farhan specifically and just said, "I'm out." And I'd bet he has nothing bad to say about Petey or even the city itself.
So while the media will admit Canadian markets are more intense, and players often choose other places because of this extra intensity, in a moment like this, where we are all baffled at how two grown men can't get along,, maybe it isn't even about them, maybe it's about the media's disturbing habit of getting into the personal lives and relationships of the players just so they have content to peddle. Sports media ventures too often into TMZ territory. Participating in low frequency gossip, conjecture, and speculation. The lowest forms of communication. I personally would be OK seeing another three or four of the ever-dwindling number of reporters in Vancouver dismissed of their duties and sent packing starting with Farhan Lalji.
I give answers like this on Matthews when I'm caught in a lie..
Finally feels like maybe Chief feels like he can let them play a little bit. He’s instilled the good habits type thing. I was getting really frustrated/worried. Still a bit concerned, but this team hasn’t looked anemic offensively for the first time in many many weeks
Bourne with such a great take about Point having a face that looks like he just shaved a moustache or beard off… something just looks a bit off. Priceless and 100% accurate 😂.
Nick likes to rewrite history lol
Braden point is amazing – and only makes 5 and bit million against the cap… why do we have to pay 3 or 4 players over 10 m each against the cap?
Ya need to solve the Morgan thing
vally mom win
You guys are by far my favoirite nhl analysists! Thank you for all you do!
Kyper is having memory problems. I feel the other two are almost his caretakers.
Tampa doesn't have the depth they once had but Cooper is a great coach and they can score. Plus Vasilevskey can steal a game or two.
Look at the hate Mahomes and Lebron gets before you go around passing rules to protect Mcdavid NHL… there’s nothing worse than “superstar calls”. One thing I appreciate about hockey that other sports don’t have is that nobody is above the law. I agree with Toch, the grandstanding like Mcdavid is getting crosschecked in the face 24/7 is too much. He’s a grown man who is doing just fine out there
McDavid also has a history of being 264th or something this season in drawn penalties per 60.
You wanne tell me, that McDavid is played super cleanly all the time by the opposition ?
The league is a joke.
McDavid gets the shortend of calls, cause he is just so stable on his feet and doesn't go down easily.
Reilly got to go! Bring in a solid second line power forward center..
Kypreos has amnesia all 3 of them were baffled as to weather he would play again before the playoffs or if back surgery would end his season also they talked for hours about him missing the 4 nations and how the leafs have to step in and make it not Matthew's call
Oilers fans are crying babies on this suspension.
McJesus did not get an earned suspension on elbowing Johansson . He is not Jesus Christ, he is a hockey player.
The stuff we see get 0 games in the playoffs… McDavid getting 3 games is a joke.
No one remembers how good the 1st line was last year with Domi on the right wing next to Matthew’s? Okay, no Bertuzzi on the left like back then but Knies is pretty much playing a same role. Marner is way too expensive to just be a disher for Matthews, he should drive his own line!… just baffling
close too 60
Kypper saying he thought Matthews would be regular Matthews a few weeks back must be his CTE showing.
1:37:44 Come on boys ! You wait until the last few seconds for the rabies story ? That deserves a segment.
Not an Oilers fan but the 3 games is one game too many. I mostly agree with Bourne that we should not make a big fuss about if suspensions are 1 game more or less from what is deserved but at the same time this is Connor McDavid. 3 games suspension means that 30-50k fans who bought tickets to watch Connor McDavid will not get to watch the super star they paid a premium for.
I have never watched McDavid play live and I really want to. I opted out last time he was in town because tickets were $300 and I was not prepared to spend that kind of money. I would be gutted if I paid big money to go watch him play and he was suspended.
1:33:07 mcdavid should not be in the 250th range for penalties drawn, but we do NOT want a situation like the NFL has right now. I don't want mcdavid diving late in a period because he knows the refs are watching like mahomes
Move On from Haakanpa I agree!. We Need to find a Centre and possibly one more Defence before the Deadline and I Think we will be looking much better then last year. Im still curious where Jarngrok is gonna fit in when he gets back.
where would Marner go? if he wants to maximize his $$ that would be in Toronto given that they could give him 8 years.
BEST SHOW in Sports Entertainment Hands Down !!! Never Miss An episode boys thanks for chippin 1.5hours off my workday lol
"Make an exception for the best player in the league" – Best thing for the Business…… "Make an example out of the best player in the league" – Best thing for the Sport of Hockey.
If you want to protect superstars, make an example out of dangerous plays, don't make exceptions based on who committed them.
Sammy really sniffing his own farts with that comment about Rick Tocchet watching Real Kyper & Bourne when literally every hockey show on earth run by people who profit when the league profits was echoing the same thing LOL
Vali is the goat.
8:06 somebody has to keep even keel in this market if we want to win anything, and it’s not gonna be Kyp who’s calling out the end of days unless Marner did something he can cling to and call him the leafs savior for
