  1. As an Avs fan, if the alternative was "get nothing", this is as good as it could've been

  2. Win-Win-Win. Avs are a well run team that wants to spread the cap across the roster, so #29 is the maximum contract. Necas is not #96 but he is close enough. Carolina has lacked offense in the playoffs and get it. They have been knocking on the door for years and need to make a run. This deal allows them to go for it. Hall is a UFA for a team going nowhere this season. Anything CHI gets for him is a win.

  3. The Maple Leafs would be better off without Mitch Marner. He avoids body contact, leading to turnovers, and I feel that there are more games where he doesn't play with a winning attitude. It's about the show and not about winning Lord Stanley.

  4. I really think both teams won this trade. Necas and Drury for Rantanen is very good imo. Necas is younger and will thrive even more in Colorado.

If I have to chose a winner here, i´d say that the Avalanche won.
That said, Carolinas roster with Rantanen and Hall is exciting.

Marner for Necas and Drury? Y E S!!!!

  5. As a fan of the blue jackets, I am sad. We now have to deal with Mikko Rantanen many times every year now(assuming he resigns)

  6. Pretty good looking deal for both Avs and Canes. Canes can have their Finnmafia and Avs got some value out of Rantanen, win-win. Its going to be spice trade deadline if Nuck or Leafs are looking to move some pieces around and if not free agency will be wild.

  7. Not a bad trade for the avs at all. Rants horrible defensively like so bad you can't put him out on a 3v3 ot. And since he can score you need him out there yet can't do it. He's never bee the man at all for a team Carolina might regret this

  8. Avs fan here. Absolutely steaming about this trade. Generally, with trades that seem weird, I put my trust in MacFarland. But I'm really struggling to believe this isn't the Avs front office giving up on our cup chances this year.

  9. Upon reflection, I think it is a good trade fir the Avs but I felt sick to my stomach for a minute upon seeing that Rantanen was traded to the Canes.

I don't see the Canes being able to resign him though, as they like to underpay most players.

Therefore, this deal is probably best for Rantanen going forward.

  10. So sad that Rantanen is not continuing in the Avs!! Avs have like the top 3 offensive first lines with Rantanen in it. Without him, I'm sure it's not going to be great in some time again. Bad for Avs.

  11. Imagine if Rantanen hits the free agent market this summer and ends up signing with Colorado again somehow.

  12. Hawks set a very low value bar for cap retention and retention slots. Thanks, signed 'Flames Fans for the Future'

  13. As a Leafs fan I would trade Marner now while his stock is high… Unless he's willing to take a reasonable offer.

  14. How does Sakic not pony up to pay Mikko??? You pay your home grown stars and worry about the rest later. They were only a little more then a million apart too. Colorado is worst after this trade now and in the future

  15. Problem is Steve, Marner isnt anywhere close to what Rants was, youd maybe get a pick and Drury

  16. The stats on PPG is worthless between Mac and Ran. 1,29PPG vs 1,18PPG, it could be an empty net goal differencial. Ran will miss Mac, pretty curious to see the next one on Mac line. Interesting to see Necas in Avs uniform.

  17. Don’t be surprised if the Avs use one or maybe both of their 2nd round picks to go after Yanni Gourde. That’s an incredibly deep center if that trade can happen. Losing Rantanen sucks, but the next 30 days are what the Avs are looking at.

  18. Colorado has been inflating Mikko's stats by letting him have all the empty net goals, and in fact he leads the league in that stat. I think they have known for some time that they would trade him.
