  1. You cannot trade a number one centre for nothing else but another number ONE centre.
Rantanen was not enough and anything Buffalo is offering…unless it is Dahlin….is not going to be enough.
Let's see how they produce tonight. Divide by number of minutes played and consider the type of line mates.

  2. imo he will never live up to his deal in vancouver. i hope the canucks do well and as buffalo is my 2nd favourite team, i would hope he finds his game there. power is a 6'6" behemoth that i'm sure tocc would like to have in the lineup. see how this trade is a win/win for me?

  3. if we lose petty im not a canucks fan anymore i cant deal with this team.

  4. Be stupid. Buffalo got the dcore for pettersson to be better. Willander is coming in. D pettersson should stick with the club. Canuck fans suck. Look at calgary. Huberdeau, kadri , backlund sucked last year. They stuck it out. Fixed the back end. Huberdeau, kadri, and backlund are having good years.

  5. During this video, I was taking a good look at what the Canucks have on their defensive core, and I don't think the issue is that these guys can't check, pretty much all 6 of their regulars can, very effectively. Where the breakdown lies is in that we have 2 defensemen who can score and move the puck up ice in transition effectively, and 4 who can't. That means when any D-line other then the Hronek-Hughes line is out, the team can't exit their own zone, and that's what I'm seeing, when the top pair is not on the ice. They get hemmed in their own zone, can't get the puck out, under control, maybe a dump out, but that just gives the puck right back to the other team, and they get suck in a mode of defend, defend, defend, defend, and you can only defend for so long before someone, no matter how good they are, makes a mistake or gets tiered and lags behind the play or the other team just makes a great play that no amount of defense and goaltending is going to stop. One of those 3 things is GOING to happen if you can't transition back to offense and make the other team have to defend for a while. Getting a good 2 way defenseman may be just what the team needs. Someone who's good enough in their own end, but can also move the puck and chip in on the offense, and does both well enough that Tocchett will be willing to trust him to play. That would allow Myers to move down to a 3rd line pairing, Soucy can have a good partner so he's not being worn down having to cover for other guy's inadequacies all the time, and the aging veteran gets sheltered minutes where he can still do what he does well, without being exposed by the top talent and worn out by logging too many minutes. And the team can actually have TWO lines capable of transitioning from defense to offense consistently, taking a load of pressure off the back check.

  6. If the Canucks can move EP and get Cozens and Byram for him Alvin and JR should be celebrated for years. Watching EP stink in Buffalo for however many years he can play for since he won’t finish his contract more than likely will be amazing.

  7. From a sabres fan POV.. either way it's alot to give up.. but Cozens seems to have hit a wall.. he's better than he's shown.. and we are deep at the blue line not to mention we have quite a bit a quality youth over all.. though I think we really need a goalie… UPL is night an day.. one day he's dominant.. the next.. porous… Sadly, I don't see one of those in the Canuck system… just Dempko and they're not moving him.

  8. I think you Nucks fan's are gonna be disappointed in return for Petey. He's overpaid and his value attached to his contract means there is no deal unless there is retention. He isn't worth Owen Power

  9. Canucks definitely need a decent centre back and a good D man however it works but ya Petey isn't a one trick Pony he can be relied upon defensively a bit too much on this team.

This D core they are mostly stuck in their own zone sometimes it seems.
This team is honestly weak on defense besides for Hughes and Hronek that the rest aren't good enough it would benefit both teams probably looking for a new change and ya know maybe Rasmus Dahlin has maybe something to do with wanting Petey in Buffalo.

  10. I wouldn't even consider a Buffalo trade if it didn't include Thompson, Benson, Kulich or Dhalin. Which I would suspect they wouldn't. Trading him now at his lowest would be a disaster that we would never win.

  11. As a Sabres fan, we don’t want him, we want defensemen that actually play hockey, and a goalie that can stop a puck. UPL sucks and needs to go

  12. Forget Petey trade. Coach has to stand behind his players. Team is good onley media is diging holes in Canucks. Why trae Petey. Get a guy to protect him team will make post season.

  13. Go big or go home.

Pettersson + Demko + Hoglander for Dahlin + Cozens + Bensen.
