1. Flyers traded just someone with 3 years left @ 5 mil per (Joel Farabee) – return was pretty underwhelming.

    Moral of the story: probably best to just hang onto Rakell. Gotta spend that cap money on something.

  2. With all this cap space they may have (plus what they could get after the trade deadline), they better be in the running for guys like Marner, Rantanen, and Chychrun. Do you think they should consider signing a 2C and then move Geno to wing?

  3. I am so pumped about the cap increasing. It's really going to help the Penguins over the next few years go through their rebuild/retool in really turning over this roster. Even this coming offseason if they chose to, they can really attempt to retool this team or go for Gavin McKenna next year and have even more cap space over the next coming years and start to surround their new nucleus of young players they acquire with some good talent.

    This might be a mailbag question over the four nations break you brought up about Evgeni Malkin and his contract being up after next season. This is my thought I could see next season potentially being the last for Evgeni Malkin in the NHL. Given his age, injuries are starting to slow him down, and he's going into the last year of his deal.

    What are your thoughts?

  4. Why do the pens do this to us? Don’t know whether to cheer to win and fight for a WC spot or cheer to bottom out and get a high draft pick?! 😱🫣
    Let’s go pens 🐧🐧🐧🐧🐧

  5. Buying out Jarry is not worth it, puckpedia has a nice buyout feature. Check out what happens if you buyout Jarry, it would actually be cheaper and save us more cap space if we just keep him in the AHL. Jarry is at that age where if both parties don't agree to a contract terminated then, ya screwed and stuck with him.

  6. I say give the net to blom, team is rested and preds won't get to be, 4 nations break is coming up. Get him as much NHL reps before he goes back down to WBS. Also +$2.8M after this season from Petry and Smith's retention. (and one more season after that before we're finally free from Jack Johnson's buyout, thx JR) ;u;

  7. Looking forward to a retool/rebuild. The core 3 have brought lasting memories and 3 cups. Crosby game is still good. Malkin and letang arent what they once were. Its still been a hell of a ride and all 3 will be missed when they hang up the skates. Hockey is a young man's game and the pens need more youth.

  8. Pens traded Marcus Pettersson and DOC for NYR's 1st round pick, BIG Vincent Desharnais, and good ole Danton Heinen. Good deal.

  9. Derek Pouliot drafted by the Pens 1st round 8th overall in 2012.
    Filip Forsberg drafted by the Capitals in the 1st round 11th overall in 2012. FF was traded to the Preds by the Caps.
    YIKES THE PENS DRAFTED A BUST INSTEAD OF FORSBERG!!!!!!!! Trouba was drafted 9th overall.
    Nailed it by Patrick Damp. 8:48
