  1. He was a dickhead but his methods sometimes got results. He's the last guy I would hire to coach and NHL team. I would hire Brian Kilrea in a heart beat when he was coaching the Ottawa Junior team. Kilrea knew how to get the best out of his players not destroy them or the team as a whole.

  2. “…I’m not a grudge holder…”

    “…I will never forgive him…”

I love Hully but that sh*t made me lol. Keenan’s a ghoul.

  3. Ranger fan, here. If it weren’t for Mike Keenan’s mean-spiritedness, we wouldn’t have even made it to the Stanley Cup Final in 1994 and the Devils would’ve won that year, instead. Yes, there were better options out there, such as Scotty Bowman and yes, I would’ve preferred if we had waited for Bowman to be available, but Keenan was the best option available because Bowman was still coaching the Penguins and we needed to wait for the Islanders to beat the Penguins, which they did, before we could hire Bowman, so we had no choice, other than to hire Keenan and there’s no way that we were going to be able to win a Stanley Cup with Roger Neilson because he was a good regular season head coach and that’s all. The only reason why we were pushed to game 7 in that Stanley Cup Final was because of Pavel Bure being the Russian Rocket and Vancouver having the 2nd best offense in the league, being run by head coach Pat Quinn and Kirk McLean was a really good goalie, as well. If we had started John Vanbiesbrouck in games 2, 3 and 4 of the 1984 Patrick Division Semifinals against the Islanders, we would’ve protected that 1-0 lead in game 4 and therefore, put that series away that day, itself and we would’ve beaten the Capitals, 4-1 in the Patrick Division Final in the exact same way and the Canadiens in the Prince of Wales Conference Final, also 4-1, before losing, 2-1 in game 7 of the Stanley Cup Final in Edmonton. Then, we would’ve carried all of that momentum into the 1984-85 season and finished with an NHL-most 126 points, with Vanbiesbrouck winning the Calder, Vezina, William M. Jennings, Hart and Lady Byng trophies and the Lester B. Pearson award, while Pierre Larouche would’ve had 53 goals and 60 assists for 113 total points and Herb Brooks would’ve won the Jack Adams award. Then, in the playoffs, we would’ve won the 1985 Patrick Division Semifinals, 3-2 against the Philadelphia Flyers and 5-0 in game 5 and then beaten the Islanders, 4-1 in the Patrick Division Final, before turning a 2-0 lead in the Prince of Wales Conference Final against the Buffalo Sabres into a 4-2 loss, as Buffalo would’ve gone on to lose game 7 of the Stanley Cup Final, 2-1 in Edmonton, in order to give the Edmonton Oilers their 2nd straight Stanley Cup. In this case, Wayne Gretzky would’ve signed a 1-year contract extension in Edmonton in the 1988 offseason and we would’ve acquired Gretzky the following offseason (the 1989 offseason) and John Vanbiesbrouck would’ve stuck around in the 1993 offseason and perhaps, Herb Brooks could’ve stuck around beyond January 21st, 1985 up until February of 1999, which means that 1994 would’ve been Gretzky’s and Vanbiesbrouck’s Stanley Cup and could’ve been Herb’s Stanley Cup, which means that we don’t even hire Craig Patrick, Ted Sator or Neilson, let alone Keenan. The fact that Glen Hanlon let in 4 unanswered goals in the 3rd period, in order to eventually lose that game, 4-1 and at least 3 of those goals were stoppable, proves my point.

  4. My favorite Hull quote regarding Keenan, “I wouldn’t piss in his ear if his brain was on fire”. 🤣

  5. "We're in the same circles a lot…and I certainly don't want, um you know, those situations to be uncomfortable" — so I'm just going to blast the guy on national TV and say I'll never forgive him.

    Got to love Brett!

  6. Mike Keenan reminds me a lot (both looks and the way he acts) of Earl Strickland.

  7. keenan is the kind of coach you get from a country with only 1 sport. Think of texas and football.

  8. even if baby breytt hul had his runins with keenan hull still scored many goals and sucussful seasons with the blues. not backing keenan but he tried to pull the best out of the his players. but brett hull had many seasons scoring goals with keenan so why complain what a payer he tried to be out of you. and he did.

  9. Keenan was loved in philly so much that his first game back in the spectrum with the hawks he got a standing ovation.

  10. I heard a story about when Keenan came in the room once and said I don't have a problem with anybody except that guy right there…*points at Hull

    Hull, "Fuck you"

  11. Keenan remarked to Hull at training camp that he was not in shape
hull said sorry coach my arms are still tired from raising them over my head 70 times last year

  12. He publicly blamed Brett Hull for getting him fired in St.Louis and blamed Chris Chelios for getting him fired in Chicago.

  13. I truly believe he was never qualified to coach an NHL team…played stupid mind games with everybody, won a cup with a stacked team…real asshole

  14. Keenan was an asshole and he was friggin' nuts, plain and simple. He created chaos and ill-will everywhere he went.

  15. Keenan went out of way to humiliate Steve Yzerman several times. He screwed him over at the 1991 Canada Cup.Then in 1993 All Star game Yzerman was named starting center and Keenan was coach. He took Yzerman off his line and barely played him during game in Montreal. It was poetic justice when Yzerman scored that dramatic overtime goal in the 1996 playoff to send Keenan and the Blues and Keenan packing.

  16. He’s a asshole and I’ll never understand why people give assholes jobs go find anyone else problem solved.

  17. Keenan was the dad of that friend you felt sorry for as a kid whose house you hated going to if his dad was going to be there.

  18. One thing he would do that once a year he would get a full set of equipment on and play a scrimmage with the guys he would go white for the first. Blacks for the second period and you could do whatever you wanted to him

  19. Hearing the hate for Mike has always been odd for me. His sister took me in when I was a troubled teenager and treated me awesome. I was good friends with his nephew who looked out for me like a brother. The grandparents were super sweet nice people. I only met Mike once at a wedding and he came off friendly, but I didn't know him enough to see this dark side…
