Good morning 🎉
Mika did well last night against Vegas on the wing. Maybe that will finally get him going? I'm willing to let this situation play out and see. Trying to keep an open mind. It's a pretty high risk trade, IMO.
How anyone could complain about this trade is wild….100 point player for someone who is a hit away from retirement and a decent but not star d-man….1st round pick is still protected.
Whoever doesn't like this trade hasn't been watching.
Drury needs to make serious changes in the back end we can score with most teams in the league its our play in the other end that kills us . One or two good games by any individual cant cloud the judgment this defense core gets walked against good teams .
Miss the playoffs…. Get a top center prospect and TRADE Zibanejad… we are set then long term
they need to sign a puck moving defenseman every one they get in a trade they lose in free agency 😂
💯 percent agree they gotta move off Zibanijade and Krider I think they were the problem that Kakko didn’t develop in the top 6 these 2 🤡 are just to set in there ways and not dynamic enough!!!!
The trade itself isn't really the problem here. J.T. Miller's playing great.
The problem is the naive perception that making one trade is salvation for the team.
Problem is that the flaws in the Rangers aren't just at one player position.
Both before and after the trade, defense has been a major issue.
First Pasternak of Boston, then Eichel of LV are allowed to waltz in, mostly untouched and unhit, to pepper our goalies with shots. See the hit Cuylle laid on a guy last night? We need about 20 more of those, especially when their star players hover around our net. See our problem players turn into key contributers last night? That can't be just an isolated event.
JT Miller is more than just a trade for a good player. He can single handedly change the culture and you can already start to see it. Chytil, although one of my favorites is injury prone and not reliable over 82 games. Mancini is a 3rd pair guy. The 1st is protected which is a bonus. Miller's real value may not be fully felt until next season. With the right deadline/offseason moves I like our chancers to make another Cup run next year.
Miller makes this team 10 times better
The ones that didn't like it, i see they are changing their minds ..JT is a very very Special player and Love ❤️ him on are team❤
Anyone who believes this is a bad trade is hockey illiterate. He’s the best offensive player on this roster
If Miller reignites Mika … that's a powerful pair!
JT Miller is a stud, always has been. He plays with intensity that is so obvious. I'm not a big Brannstrom fan, and I don't think he strengthens the D core in terms of winning board battles. Rangers still lose to many board battles in both zones. As Henrik said, the game is often won by play along the boards. Rangers have trouble breaking out of their own end because they lose those battle & are chasing the puck around in their own end. D getting caught up ice is a major problem for the team. Mika looks good with Miller, but I'm not keen on Brodzinski as third line centre.
Terrible trade for Vancouver not New York
This is a really good deal i don't care what anyone says, he's the player this team needs they need a player with balls and plays with passion. He's already making an impact
The only slight draw back…is Mancini. But J T is everything this team needs! He should have NEVER NOT BEEN A RANGER!
Not liking the deal bc we gave Chityl youth instead of clearing Mika age/contract wasn’t ideal to me but getting Miller was a home run
All teams win in this trade
Not at all. I liked Chytil, but unfortunately, he could never stay healthy and was not reliable for that reason. He took forever to get back into a groove after missing time. Mancini is yet another of the endless Ranger D prospects. Jones can't crack the roster… why would I miss Mancini? We'll see if Miller can reign it in a little now that he's back and playing with his buddy Trocheck. I bet they make Trocheck the captain next season. I agree… this cannot be the last tweak or they won't take that final step. They also need Lafreniere to wake up!
i want this trade to work out in the long run…but i'm not confident. I think JT Miller is overrated as a complete player, he cleared 100 points once prior to that he was 82 points and 99 points. Prior to that he hit 72 points once and most of his career has been a 40-50 point player. People are talking about him like he's a 100 point player year in and year out but he's on the wrong side of 30. But my biggest issue with JT is that we traded him to Tampa laong with KEvin MCDonough and JT was thrown in as a bonus, and we parted with him because already back then he was a handful off the ice. He goes to Tampa and signs a 5 year deal and they trade him. He goes to Vancouver and a year into a 7 year deal, he's not asking to be traded but rather Vancouver looked to get rid of him because he couldn't get along with Elias Peterson. What? You're a grownass man playing professional sports and you can't sort out in an interpersonal problem? My dad once said to me "wherever you go, there you are." Wherever JT Miller goes, he doesn't stay long. So are we just going to end up buying him out in a few years? I am sad to lose Fil, loved the kid, and losing Mancini is a bummer. We are a team that was supposed to be recently retooled and building a new core, but all the kids who could have or should have been the engine room of that core are gone, in Hartford or scratched. Are we better today than we were yesterday? Sure, but yesterday we were a dumpster fire so the bar is real low here.
Look, I hope I am wrong about JT Miller. Nothing would make me happier to see JT Miller finally grow the fuck up and be a good teammate and a leader in the room and on the ice. But I don't see it and I have real concerns that in 2 to 3 years we are going to find ourselves suddenly the oldest team in the league and back on that toxic cycle of signing and trading for high priced veterans looking for a golden parachute at the expense of prospects rotting on the vine.
As for Mika…I wish we could just take him back to arboreal forests of Sweden and release him back into the wild and as a single tear runs down my cheek I whisper to him, "Go, you're free now." Failing that, maybe getting him a DJ residency at one of the hyper clubs in Ibiza could get him to waive his NMC?
Yea I don’t take much stock in fans who say this is a bad trade you are a simpleton if you think that people who honestly thought rangers were ever anywhere close to blowing it up are morons this fanbase flip flops so quick on every subject it’s crazy
Rangers traded garbage, need grit players not soft non checking players. Defense defense.
Stanley cup championships not the way they are playing . Playoffs are different breed, not this year fellows
Frankly, I’m amazed Vancouver took Chytil. He is fine bone China. I wish him nothing but the best but have been concerned about him since the first big concussion, let alone the subsequent ones. NYR clearly better with JT but until they get a solid, big, 1st pair, they aren’t going anywhere. Way too soft in the case of 23, 55 is a vulnerable target for opposing power forwards, 79 is a mistake factory, 17 is solid but average, Schneider being poorly developed in classic Ranger fashion and who cares about the rest of em.. gotta address the huge D inconsistency if they are going to progress. Shesterkin has has become a mystery. Is he permanently damaged, or is he just messed up because team D is such a shit show? Hope it’s the latter!
Rangers got the best player in the trade and it’s not close.
Chytl is a good player who can’t finish and is always hurt.
Mancini is a prospect so only time will tell.
Rangers got a star period
Here is something for ranger fans to think about he's 31 how many 100 pount seasons do you think he has left on his long 8 million a year contract? Being a canuck fan that loves j.t Miller it's something I have often thought about. And when he drops off how hard will it be?
Milers contract + his birth certificate = bad trade
To me the deal is good for the Rangers. However if Chytil can stay healthy it could be a good deal for both franchises
So Miller had a problem with Pettersson's soft play. So how is Miller going to like Panarin?
Good trade for NY in the short term but long term it’s debatable. Have to consider that Vancouver flipped that first for a top 4 dman in Petterson and dumped cap. Millers a beauty though. We’re gonna miss the guy.
Canuck fan here! Yes Miller is a point per game player but he was a negative force on our team. His anger is an issue who fought teammates and coaches. He had fights with (Delia, Schenn, Horvat and Elias Petterson and also pissed off Boudreau and Tocchett and benched thrice. This is the honeymoon phase right now with his old team the Rangers but his narcissistic phase will come out. He'll blame players, gas light them, devalue the team and be a toxic narcissist who only seeks attention and power. Just you wait and see. We are glad to get rid of him. So far Vancouver loves Chytil who scored a goal yesterday and waiting for Mancini to play tomorrow. I like Brannstrom who had 8 points in 28 games from the AHL and has great potential for you guys!
Canucks fan. JT is a beast, love him and he will be missed but he is about as bi-polar a hockey player I've seen. If his age doesn't factor I'd say NYR got a solid 3 years before things unravel.
This is the most pessimistic channel ever.
