“I just want to play here, win cups here,” etc. If not an exact quote, something along those lines. It sounds like Nelson is ready to play you the same way, are you going to let that happen louzer?!? Chances are? Yes, you will allow that, SMH, hope I’m wrong!
The only thing I better hear is Nelson was traded for very large return. Agree I am getting Tavares vibes. Player wants full control. Tavares later said he didn't want to get traded to team not Toronto because he didn't want to change his routine for months or year & then again in Toronto, so selfish jersey cost Isles a ton.
Martin was a charity/PR signing. Total waste of roster spot & money at this point.
Gil. Dumping on Tavares … makes no sense. That man wanted to play for his hometown team and a team that is a CONTENDER. The Isles are going nowhere. Nelson has one more significant contract in his career given his age. He needs to look out for Brock. He's given the Isles a lot. Respect.
Why do all these NHL players want to go back to play where they grew up? As a kid I dreamed of playing for the Islanders, but if I played for Tampa Bay, I don't feel I'd have to try to live out my childhood fantasy and eventually return to Long Island. Play where you raised your family and spent your entire career, or go for the money and a chance to win a Cup because it's the end of your career. But to go "home" to play doesn't make sense to me. Everyone is different I guess. Also, no need to play Fasching or Martin unless there is an injury. The 4th line is better without either at this point.
No need for Hudson anymore he’s Bellows with no offensive talent. Gatcolm is who I wanted to Bellows to be. A few years ago I thought Bellows, Johnston and Zeeker would have been the new identity line but it didn’t work out that way. I think the future now should be Gatcomb, McLean and someone in Bridgeport like Pinho. Engvall needs to be in the AHL instead of Pinho. Love Martin and Zeeker but the loyalty to them is just counterintuitive.
This does not end well. Now with jt moved 29 is top trade bait on tdl list. As a ufa what is best isles can get for 29? First and prospect? First and player? 2 picks/prospect or player? And if 29 wont re-sign there has to be a deadline-sign or move. And louzer's history shows a lot of his ufa's just end up walking. Neidermayer, driver, holik, gomez, parise, pj boy. Re-signed kovi to a 100 year deal to keep him only to watch kovi walk out on him. He only re-signed 44 and 21 after 6 and 4 year signed deals so not to lose them. And louzer knew parise was going back home to minny yet kept him. Same with vanek who snow moved for second/mediocre prospect. Now 29 wants to go back home to mild. So does louzer take mild best offer or look elsewhere? Mild wont pay much for a ufa that wants to come home after season. And since louzer frowns at isle system a player for player or players is probably what louzer is looking at. I still have the 29, first vibe for ? player as louzer sees isles winning and going on a run to playoffs. That's his only thinking, prospects/picks be damned. Jets are a good spot yet jets are looking at boeser. I'd take barlow or speedy c lambert in a 29 deal as both could play in nhl next season. Petey could still be moved-unlikely with that deal. A team that could use a 2 c boost and is looking at cozens yet on a hot streak is wings. I don't know if yzerman has interest in a ufa to be and trading with isles a team battling for same w c spot. Avs could jump in as well still looking for a c with kadri rumoured. Stars, laffs interested too. 21 would be easier to move-second, player or prospect. And isles visit jets, mild this weekend. Will louzer talk to chevy and guerin? hmmmm…. So called experts say louzer is more likely to seek a re-sign of 29 as ufa even with risk of losing ufa in off season.
Funny thing Taveras is a free agent after this year. How many think senile Lou would try to bring him back at the end of his career?
Gil why should we care about a player's age when age is nothing but a number? It's all about experience.
He's 33 there's no decline at 33 your body should be good you just have to treat it right its very simple
Good 🌄, Gil, how are you? There are still rumors about Brock Nelson being trade bait, but he wants to test the free agent market. Nelson's not thinking about this. He just wants to play 🏒. Matt Martin won't make 1,000 game club this year. Patrick Roy's going to start Ilya Sorokin in both games this weekend. They've got Winnipeg tonight, and they're on 🔥, so the Islanders have to stay out of the joint because the Jets have an awesome PP.
Then, the Islanders are in MN tomorrow, and they're not bad either. Is what I'm thinking true that Barzy's out for the season? HAPPY 🎂, SEAN BURGENHEIM. He had a hat trick on a win against those 😈. Hear from you later, Gil, I'll be 👀 a lot of nostalgia during the next 2 weeks after this weekend. Now, LET'S GO ISLANDERS.
Brock has to be traded ! We can still make an offer on July 1 if we want! We can’t lose a major asset for nothing! His mind is wondering where he will be! He has been better lately. Brock, Palms, Dobson all must be traded regardless of playoffs! Lou better wake up! You had better make the best deals you can! He can be traded and offered a contract July 1! Lou better wake up! Lou has done well bringing in 3 new D for 1 5 th rd draft pick!
This was a waste. If you don't have anything to report on, please don't waste our time with nothing. It is demeaning to tease your audience that he had something important to say. YOu must be desperate to find content to present.
I agree that nelson has not checked out. He plays like he still loves it if u ask me. He's been shuffled around lines this year like crazy! And on top of that how many goals has he had taken away from him due to a offsides or goalie interference? I know of 2 off the top of my head. Could be more idk? It's just to bad every month couldn't be October! Lol
If you listen to Gillett 1.5 speed he almost sounds like one of us
Brock has class …unlike JT …so that situation won’t happen ..unless we see a kid picture of him in Minnesota Wild pajamas
Put Martin instead of Engvall, as Engvall is a complete waste!
Good morning team! Gil, I have to admit. I'm not a fan of the trade rumors, also no a fan of players leaving the team without a return. Brings up Tavares feelings again. When Nelson comes back to play us, I don't want to boo him when he has the puck. We can't let him test free agency. If that is the plan, then we need to trade him for at least a prospect and a pick. I too was doing some digging into the Jets. They are a pretty scary team on paper, and on the ice. Like you said, goaltending is elite, top notch scoring lines, sound defense as well. We absolutely need to stay out of the box tonight, even though the PK has been better of late. Anxious to see how our 5 on 5 play is with this team. If we can't hang, then no harm done, it was probably expected. If we give them a game, and possibly stay even, then WOW! As long as we're in the game, that's all I'm looking for. If we can somehow generate our own degree of luck, then who knows. I'm a HUGE believer in anyone can win against anyone else. Needles to say, I'm very much looking forward to this one and the Wild on Sunday.
Everyone, have a great day and weekend! Enjoy the games. See you all again Monday. Until then.. Let's Go Islanders!!
