Alright Conny let's cook! 🔥🔥🔥
I think Cozens would work best with us in Detroit… but making him fit under the cap will be the question, especially if Buffalo isn't gonna retain salary until the end of the 2029-2030 season. Otherwise, they're gonna have to take on a couple questionable contracts of ours to make it work. I'm not confident they'd be willing to take on Holl ($3.4m) and Copp ($5.625m), assuming they'd be willing to go to Buffalo, as both players have no-trade clauses.
Realistically though, I don't see Buffalo trading him, at least not yet.
Speaking out of the Red Wings perspective, that'd be huge: Cozens would easily fit into a window with your core, and you would get 4yrs of a 2-way forward that would fit perfectly on a 1st line with Larkin & Raymond. Just like Kasper does right now, but on an obviously higher level.
The two questions would be: McLellan clearly said that he wanted to give Kasper the chance to play top-line minutes AND he is doing that pretty good. So he'd have to go down to at least 2nd line. Which wouldnt be bad (ADB – Kasper – Kane), but it's something you should think of.
And more importantly: What would Buffalo take in return? Anything but a 1st-rounder would be a hard no, PLUS you'd have to clear cap for him which would be either Copp or Compher. IF Tarasenko would play like he did before he signed for DET… that's another story.
So… A 1st, (Compher) + most likely another prospect… something that could work and build your core for the future further.
If Dylan Cousins was that great and would a difference maker of making the playoffs, then why would Buffalo want to trade him? Then why trade him in your division so he can come back and haunt you year after year.
Canadiens should be buyers instead of looking to take a "Chance" or get another head case lets actually aqquire someone good out of free agency that will bring a guartee pressence. We should be looking at Rantanen, Ehlers, Ect
The Wings are not in the position to be taking on guys that are not currently living up to their contracts, Signing Mr. Ed. is top priority, If someone wants to take Holl, Petrey, or Vlad and a little something, shure, but other than that guys will be expiring at replacement rate… We don't need to be gifting teams and jacking off all the sacrifice that the Yzerplan was all about, especially with it panning out as expected.
Still want the Petterson for Cozens and Byram trade to happen.
Another Laine type? I think one locker room cancer is more than enough. Laine is already hated in that locker room I don’t think they need another guy like that.

This kids never watched Cozens play before he’s one of the softest players in the league. He tried to fight a guy once and got KOd and his career has been done ever since because now he plays scared.
There is no version of this where SY takes the 7 mil cap hit.
The Wings would probably be the last choice to trade to, as they are in the same division.
Detroit makes the most sense for him tbh none of the other teams know how to properly develop players like Detroit has plus Detroit is on the up two 7 game winning streaks in the playoffs as of now Dylan would make Detroit better and that could bring the scoring out of him back like two years ago plus Detroit has the money and assets to give back to buffalo so I'd be shocked if he wasn't a redwing
I'd love to see him between Debrincat and Kane
Wings won’t pay for him not unless they take a lot of the contact and draft picks – both Raymond and larks are on pace for about 85-100 pints and they have a rookie line mate , mo the other player paid that much is a top 5 d man and about a half point a game will prolly top out in 60/70 pint range . If Stevie. Is going to pay more or close to anything that’s long term it would be for a 110 plus 40:50 point player – there actually quiete a few out there assist kings goal scores and both – I just don’t see the wings wasting the money on a huge maybe if we was banging out a point per game sure but he’s not
What will it take to get tage that would be ok pure gold
Looking at stats, Cozens seems kind of mid for a 7 million aav player, not sure why every team is so eager to jump on him.
Blackhawks
I really like Cozens but I don't like his contract that was based on ONE season.MTL does not have a legit center to back up Suzuki who is imo a second line center.
Way back when Dallas won the cup all they really had was Modano but they added Nieuwendyk and things changed and brought them the cup.Point being that the Habs need two things to become legit a true #1 center and a real coach but the coaching problem will NEVER be fixed because they only want Francophones but the center position could be had by good management.
Personally I would trade Dach and Newhook those were two stupid moves get rid of their contracts and go after a big name center. Then MAYBE Owen Beck can be our thrd line center and Evans #4.MTLK needs to quit thinking stupid where a player was drafted means very little you have to look with your eyes and get HQ players.
Slafkovsky is a BUM way over rated who had one sub par season becuase eh was elevated to the top line and PP otherwise nobody would even notice him.
And 10 other teams
Cozens and a 2nd round pick to Detroit for a 1st pick, Nate Danielson and Bergerren to Buffalo. Adding to Bergerren reduces the risk significantly for Buffalo as they get a young player with potential while Wings taken on risk and salary which is why the 2nd round pick applies.
Why don’t you do a real video podcast instead of having the stupid PlayStation game in the background it’s so annoying. You’re doing this on the cheap that’s why.
Can't see Yzerman giving up any talented player he has to pick up Cozens unless they would take Debrincat for him.
Trade Rickard Rakell to the Sabres for Dylan Cozens.
Trade Rickard Rakell to the Ducks for Trevor Zegras.
Trade Rickard Rakell to the Kings for Lafferiere and Clarke.
Trade Rickard Rakell and X? to the Habs for Arber Xhekaj and Kirby Dach.
Cozens averages 0.57 points per game and 0.23 goals. That's roughly 18 goals and 46 points over a season. Hardly impressive. He also makes more than $7-million a year. Unless it's a bargain, as a Red Wings fan, it's a hard pass.
No thx.
No matter what the trade is will come out on the short end like we always do
We need another player at CBJ. Zach out. Kirill out. We lost johnny hockey. Our playoff chance might just be done. 😢
Go leafs go
I'd love to get cozens on the flames but I can't see conroy trading Zary or Coronato for him and I can't see Kadri waiving for buffalo
Of these four options, I think Calgary is the most likely trade partner. Even if they think Cozens has reached maximum potential, I doubt they would want to make any of the three other Atlantic Division teams better this year or in the future. It would have to be an amazing payday to make that worthwhile.
