  1. Too early to know how it will turn out. Pelletier was good in Calgary so far. This definitely helps the Flames in the short term at minimum.

  2. Flyers fan here, your take is correct, imo. Love Farabee, he’s def someone who could do well with the right change of scenery. Analytically, he’s regarded very well he just wasn’t putting the biscuit in the basket. He could be the one that got away. Frost is who he is. Maybe he gets some chemistry on a good line and scores more, but the flash he showed in minors never materialized in NHL. Unless this is the set up for another deal, or there is another 1st coming or something, we lose this trade. Clearing Farabee’s $5M for 3 years is a good thing if we take a swing for a decent center this summer, that’s my only guess here. A 7th?! Really? SMH 🤦🏻‍♂️

  3. Amazing trade for the flyers. Getting rid of two useless slugs and gaining cap space for the next three seasons. You know that they're going to put that to good use somehow, so there's definitely more to come from Briere

  4. I think it’s a win for both. You hope you get Mitch to get going. Farabee and Frost were not panning out. On top they free up cap. Pelletier is a wild card for me. It weakens the flyers center core in the short term but free up 5millions from a player that was playing 3th line minutes and needed a fresh start. I hope both get some what were they were projected. But, giving a failing grade is unjustified if you look it at it this way.

  5. I’m nervous, Mike. Pelletier is a “heart on the sleeve” guy, emotionally charged, but a Torts guy? I understand Kuzy is the main piece but, Jakob has enormous upside, just hope he gets traded again, sooner rather than later for his sake….

  6. Yeah, i agree with you Mike, this deal is a slam dunk for the Flames. I mean i understand NHL teams salary dumping maybe one guy, but two? For what…a prospect and two picks. Neither a first? How do you not get a first round pick for this package?
This deal and the Saad buyout are really strange. You never see an established player with term say ya buy me out, i don't need the money. Is this the start of a trend like deferred money?

  7. Great deal for Philly. They just got rid of Farabee and his $5 million contract over the next 3 years, while obtaining a 2nd round pick and a young player in Pelletier. Farabee and Frost may very well live up to their potential in CGY but I think Briere is smiling ear to ear knowing that he now has an extra $5 million to dabble with next offseason, allowing him to continue building around Michkov.

  8. Fan of neither team so I don’t have a horse in this race. Really dumb on Philly’s part. Slam dunk for Calgary.

  9. I agree, And I am a longtime Flyers fan. This deal makes no sense. I can see moving on from Farabee or Frost, but I would think that the return for either one would be more balanced.

  10. I guess the main win for Philly is freeing up 5m$ in cap space for the next 3 yrs. They can probably spend it more efficiently than it was on Farabee.

  11. The flyers are going to tank as they should and as a fan I love it. Now having 3 1st rounders and 4 2nd rounders this year is what they need. I do think they get another first for risto or Laughton.
I hope Danny uses those 2nd picks to move those late 1st higher in the draft this year and just build around michkov while shedding cap. I also feel like torts needs to go.

  12. Trading away 2 1st rounders because torts doesn't like them? They haven't grown under torts. Who's the problem? And he keeps benching and sitting Michkov. Torts needs to go. Stop sending young, 1st round picks for expiring contracts. Same old flyers…
And let me know how and when that 2nd rounder from Calgary makes out in about 5 years. Sad

  13. caps fan, at least it doesn't affect the caps short term, and i think it is a fair trade, not like anaheim eating troubas 8 million contract for nothing making the rangers better for trades, and carolina getting a superstar for a couple good players,do they have any good GMs in the west?? i hope kuzmenko jells in philly but he is talented scorer but lazy on defensive assignments this will be a challenge for torts.if he can wake kuzy up then i will hate this trade as a caps fan lol. its similar to caps with PLD,but he has worked out bigtime, but initially i was a little worried,i didn't want another A.Mantha on the team.

  14. I am a flyers fan and we have watched Frost and Farabee underperform for years now. It was time to move on. Would I have preferred a #1 instead of a #2, sure. As far as this Torts narrative, I don’t see it. He is still tough but he is not the Torts of old, by any stretch of the imagination. I also don’t think Kuzmenko isn’t getting talked about enough. He is having a bad season, as is both Frost and Farabee but Kuzmenko is only 2 years removed from a 39 goal season and last year scored 22 which happens to be Farabees career high. Frost has never hit 20 in a season. I do think it’s more of a risk for the Flyers for sure but it also seems to work for both teams. Only time will tell.

  15. Why do people just look at the players involved? For the Flames yes it's a hockey deal addressing positional needs. It's also a great return on a guy that was almost untradable. Love Kuzy but let's be real no way the Flames were resigning him. Nor do I think will the Flyers. So they had four years left on a contract they didn't want that will now end with this season. Best buyout is a trade, and it costs them nothing, but a guy they wanted to move on from. Then Frost who will have to be resigned. Again not a Torts guy. Pelletier likely won't be either, but wave him he's on an al salary it all gets lost in the A and the Flyers have 8 mill in cap next season. Two players they didn't want gone space for two contracts. A tidy piece of work. The Flames who need the bodies get them for a guy that was untradable and gone in the summer. Everyone wins.😊

  16. It’s a win for both teams. Two guys who woefully underperform for cap space and a second. They genuinely needed a rebuild instead of a try hard team that tops out as a wild card one and done. More draft capital and cap space sets the flyers up for gettin their 1C of the future. The flames win this trade now but it wasn’t a bad trade at all for the flyers.

  17. Craig is all about good asset management so he will absolutely, at a minimum, qualify Frost; if for nothing else to trade him. That is worst case scenario of course.

  18. It’s all about the future cap space for the flyers .. they could also flip them in a package for picks at the deadline this year .. so definitely not a win as far as return for this year , it’s about the future , sucks but it’s all about the rebuild & getting out of cap hell with FINALLY some cap flexibility. the last 15 years of horrible drafting & even more brutal contracts put them in this spot .

  19. Pelletier is a positive character player, and Kuzy, when he’s on his game can score. Neither are going to blow your hair back, and I haven’t seen Frost or Farabee, but hopefully all four players find their game on their new teams

  20. The flyers win Frost is gone…. It doesn’t matter anyway. They are so weak at center I can’t see the light at the end of this turd tunnel. Two best players are undersized wingers, good luck in the playoffs if they ever get back. Flyers fan if you couldn’t tell. Torts needs to go too if they want to sign any big name players eventually

  21. Loving this for the Calgary Flames. Get the young centre they we're seeking in Morgan Frost plus a winger with some upside in Joel Farabee. Parting with Andrei Kuzmenko who wasn't going to return anyway and worth parting with Jakob Pelletier who still finding his way in the NHL full time.
