  1. Petterson is over-rated and over-paid, although he can be a good hockey player. He just isn't an elite superstar. His very average goals/assists stats this season prove how disappointing he has become. There's just no way he's worth $11.6 million and the 5th highest paid in the league. Unfortunately Petey is one of those players who get signed to a huge contract because it looks like he's going to be a franchise superstar, based on being a hot rookie and fan favorite. But then — for whatever reasons — it's all downhill after that. There's many other examples in NHL history of this happening. Wishful thinking and huge contracts don't make an NHL superstar.

  2. Playing on autopilot is not going to maintain "star" expected results.
Good thing for him that he cashed in on his career season. Because if his contract was due this year, he wouldn't get half of what he got.

  3. When some of these big FA sign this summer and beyond the heat on Pettersson will fade off. People are going to be blown away with the numbers. McJesus could demand 18M. Petey is a 80 point center and his contract will reflect that soon enough.

  4. Petey is good but not a Super Star. Fans have over rated him. As a top center in the league he is a ways down the list. For a guy who was not hurt he has sure regressed as a player. A guy like Hughes has improved his play every year he has been in the league. He is a true Super Star. He is dangerous every time on ice. Never been the same since his All Star appearance.

  5. I am not even gonna watch this clip and going straight to chat.
    Probably another useless update.
Just tired of useless infos and thought ideas that never has come to fruition.

  6. Some players peak early and find it hard to keep the drive that it takes to compete day in, day out in the NHL. Other players peak around 27-29. Bertuzzi and Naslund peaked at 27-29 age range, Pettersson, unfortunately is in the latter camp and has already peaked.

  7. I think the usage is a warning to teams who are thinking of trading for Pettersson. There's no guarantee he'll turn things around and be worth that massive contract.

  8. Not surprised at his usage by Team Sweden. There's no question that they are following the discussions of Pettersson's non-season in Vancouver. They will have watched the tapes. I think it is pretty obvious to all but the diehard Pettersson fans that he's not the player he once was and that he shows no sign of regaining that form. The Canucks need to trade him now while he still has some value.
