Yeah I’m not giving up Marco or Simon for him lol
In no reality would I trade Simon or Marco for Dylan. 😂
Nah, pass. This isn't a thing.
Earlier in the year, I wouldn't have minded giving up Marco, but he's been to good to give up
7milly for 40 points …. nope. Hard pass.
Here's the real rub… Cozens is signed long term, and he's a fit where he's at. Buffalo does NOT NEED to trade him.. so if someone else wants him… buffalo does not have to move him so they can demand what they want because they'll walk away happy either way..
Straight up. No one in deteoit as fans wants cozens unless its for copp compher tarasaenko or maybe danielson.
Why would we want a 7mill a year center that doesn't do anything exceptionally well and is getting worse every year?
Buffalo can ask all they want but the fact is no one is busting down their doors to get him.
Amd wings fans are very high on asp and nygard and buch in russia. The other prospects are livable with trading away.
Riddle me this Batman, why would I trade for ah guy, who has almost, the same amount of points, as Andrew Copp? Plus id argue an even worse contract.
A 1st round pick plus Danielson or Brandsegg-Nygard and Bergerren makes more sense.
I believe many GM's would view Cozens as a negative asset considering his contract. I personally believe a lot of the better GM's wouldn't take him on with his current contract for free…
Cozens and a 3rd or 4th for holl, veleno, and tarasenko
Kasper is the future 2C it's more obvious the more we see him play just learning his future role with great Captain Larks and Edvinsson is the future other defensive stud with Seider so yeah no way they'd give up any of both
Don't want Cozens. I'd rather get Byfield, or Zegras. Send out Veleno, Gustafsson and a 1st., Copp, or Tarasenko are fair game too. We need defensive depth, because Holl can't play Hockey.
Simon Edvinsson has 6 less points as a defenseman than crappy cozens. Nobody is going to pay anything of value for that 7 million dollar paper weight.
Buffalo can just keep him. Other teams aren’t going to offer what Buffalo wants
BUF gets: 2025 1st, Danielson, Berg OR Johansson
DET gets: Cozens, 2026 6th, $600K salary retained
As a Sabres fan, I think Cozens would produce with veteran wingers on his line.
No thanks. I'll keep my younger prospects.
Can only join in on what many here said: Kasper and Edvinsson wouldn´t have been up for debate, both of them made a jump this year and are clearly part of the long-term plan.
And while it can be debated that they won´t have as much offensive impact as a Cozens would, Kasper is proving himself to be the perfect complimentary piece to Larkin/Raymond, doing the "Dirty" work, while Edvinsson is arguably the 2nd best D-Man in our lineup besides Seider.
Most important question for me is: How would you make sense budget-wise for the Red Wings? 7,1Mil is quite a hefty bargain, which would only make sense if we a. trade off Tarasenko beforehand or b. would, again, be willing to trade Copp/Compher away. Because you will need the money next year with Edvinsson getting paid and, hopefully, extended long-term.
If all would fall in place, if Stevie Y thinks Cozens can be better than Compher/Copp are right now AND than a Danielson will be, you could pull that trade off. Otherwise, you´re good to go, wait until Nate develops. Who is doing a point every other game in the AHL right now, so I´d guess he´d be ready to get into the NHL next year or 26/27.
What Detroit rather should look for is on the defensive side. Holl/Gustafsson haven´t been the best, and as long as you don´t wanna break up the 2nd pair, you could rather invest that Cap space into an equally talented/expensive 1st-Line Defenseman alongside Seider. Could also happen at Free Agency, but if you wanted to upgrade right now, that would be where the greatest problems are right now.
Kasper won't ever get the attention of a Raymond or Seider, but he'll be a stud two-way centerman. His game won't be valued in points, but more like the Kopitar-mold (not to that degree, but playing style)
No Danielson either
This trade isn't happening, so many videos on this, no cap. That contract is set up to stifle the wings if the take this on. If they did have some salary retained by Buffalo , it would only cost them more. Hard pass, way better options for 7 million out there.
I'll pass.
With the way the current Yzerplan's 1st rounders have looked, I don't want any current or future 1st involved so yeah no way
Go Wings
I think it's a better idea to trade for a defenseman like Bowen Byram instead. Detroit's future center depth really looks good. If Detroit trades for Bowen Byram instead and moves Jonatan Berggren instead as part of a trade package. Let's say, Detroit trades Jonatan Berggren, Joe Veleno, Shia Buium, 2026 1st (top 10 protected) and a 2027 2nd round draft pick to Buffalo for Bowen Byram. Detroit's future line-up could look like this est 2029-2030:
Kasper Larkin Raymond
Mazur Danielson Buchelnikov
Lombardi Plante MBN
Finnie Soderblom Kiiskinen
N.D.Nilsson
Byram Seider
Edvidsson ASP
Johansson Tuomisto
Wallinder
Cossa
Augustine
As a Red Wings fan: Cozens might be worth trading for IF he can ever live up to his contract with points production. That's too many ifs and buts to risk two of the Red Wings' future core talent. Further, ANY trade involving Kasper and Edvinsson would be a loss since both bring much needed depth and position to the team for what would most likely be short-term "win now" gains. Detroit is not yet at the point where Yzerman can be thinking in a "win now" mentality. I'd pass on Cozens unless it's first round picks, and even then I'd want the Sabers to retain.
lol Sabres are not trading Cozens
