I think Lanks is good, but not great.According to his stats he saves avg 90% with 3.00 GAA… just like his stats at the 4 Nations. I don't think Lanks has the ability to be an elite level goalie! I think a 2 year deal would have been a lot better, make sure this isn't another Arturs Silovs situation. If Demko doesn't return to form, Lanks is no Demko… and if Demko does return, Lanks is far too expensive to be a back-up goalie. I don't see this ending great. Good, not great!

Demko needs to be bought out at the end of the year. Can’t have 2 middle tier goalies taking up that much cap space.
Still TBD who, between an injury-prone Demko and a sieve via Šilovs, can be counted on to be the Canucks main backup goalie with Lankinen signed to a five-season deal that kicks in in July.

I think them signing him that quick after the tourney says someone else was looking at him for less and Canucks had to place their balls on the table. That's what I think about it.
