Freeze at :49. That ref knew the puck went under Murray's glove and immediately decided to blow the whistle before it could trickle into the net or get tapped in.
This is in the rulebook actually — if the nearest official loses sight of the puck he's supposed to blow the play dead REGARDLESS of where the puck is. It's bad enough Nashville got a Retroactive goal a couple of games before this one.
Pens fan here, this was definitely BS. Not sure how he thought he could blow the whistle there. I understand it not being a goal based on the whistle being blown BUT the whistle never should have been blown.

I'm sorry but this was an extremely tainted cup for Pittsburgh. Games 1 and 6 both involved bad calls that swung the momentum in Pittsburghs favor and arguably cost Nashville the games

That slow whistle happened with just under NINETEEN MINUTES left in the SECOND period. In other words, the Preds had almost TWO WHOLE PERIODS to get that one back. The Preds also had literally ALL the power plays in that game. Every penalty called was against the Pens. Also, the goal by Hornqvist was so cheesy. Whacked off the mesh at the SIDE OF THE NET BEHIND THE ICING LINE? That's how you lose the Cup? Also, own goals earlier in the series doesn't help you win Cups. I'm sorry, but Pittsburgh, for the third time in under a decade was the better team.
But no, let's blame the Refs cause nobody can every man up and own a loss.

We watch a league that awards a goal for a player tripped up en route to an empty net but not when a mistake is made on an obvious goal in an all important Game 6 of the SCF. A game determined by momentum was inevitably determined right there.

Hmm…just re-watched the Wings v Pens game from 4/23/22 and Malkin did the same thing (scored long after the ref's whistle had blown) but the refs reviewed the play and called it a good goal…again, AFTER the whistle was blown. What rule changed between now and then? #NHLISAJOKE
