  1. The Fat Lady has sung, Taps, whatever spin you take the bottom line is that the islanders season is over. Now I saw this happening before the season started. How? The owners did not release Lou as GM, at that moment I knew nothing will change and I was right. At this point I am at a loss for words why the owners have nothing to say to the fans about another miserable season under Lou. As a fan i forgot how it feels to have a GM who knows what he is doing regarding my Islanders, and our fans will feel the same way once they realize it is over….Sell everyone over 30 years old, bring up, Danny Nelson, Maggio, Dufour, Jefferies, Mitchell, Odelius, Gil and Bolduc…..

  2. I want the delusion amongst some fans & media to stop! This team hasn't been constructed to be competitive in 3-4 years, despite some nice players. The team doesn't even have any toughness going into battle rivals. Pulock look scared to even try to move Rempe. Sell everything U can & 🔥 Lou.

  3. Gil, I think u guys are a little harsh on Sorokin like usual. A goal off Perunovich ( aho jr )like we have seen plenty of times earlier in the season. Then a couple of nice deflections. Game is already over at 3-1 when like usual we can’t score. Guys making mistakes not covering the right players. Or better yet like butchie was screaming about letting their right defenseman walk right in. St. Patrick living in fantasy land isn’t helping matters either. I know he’s been neutered from the beginning of the year by senile Lou but this is ridiculous. We were the better team. lol the savior st. Patrick can go with senile Lou and lil Chrissy.

  4. First off…Thank You Gil. You're analysis of tonight's performance was spot on. I was at UBS for this game and there were some absolutely atrocious performances tonight. Ryan Pulock and Adam Pelech had probably their worst games ever in Islander uniforms, Anders Lee lost every race to the puck and just about every battle along the boards, Ilya Sorokin was atrocious and if I am Patrick Roy, I would bench J G Pageau and Anthony Duclair for the next three games because right now…they are both useless to this hockey team! I was in attendance when the Islanders were absolutely obliterated by the Buffalo Sabres earlier this season and in that game the Islanders played ten times better than they did tonight! The last two periods I had to sit and listen to Rangers fans(which was about 70 percent of the crowd) chant "Let's go Rangers" which tells you that a large percentage of season ticket holders are reselling…rather than going to games. All in all one of the absolute low points since the opening of UBS arena.😢

  5. Unfortunately that win streak earlier probably ruined any shot of a lottery pick even if we continue to implode, time to face the reality that this core is finished and time to sell, Nelson and palms won’t be enough, look to unload 44 and possibly 27 if you can and obviously some defenseman

  6. There is a disturbing pattern when the Islanders play Swiss Cheese Defense in front of Sorokin many times he just mails it in.

  7. The issue is not that Lou is dumb . Rather, an inability to admit he was wrong. This has been a major criticism of Lou from the NHL office. They point to the beginning of his tenure with NJ where he would rapidly admit mistake and pivot to the end of his tenure in NJ where he just couldn't admit his mistakes and we are seeing this play out with the Islanders now

  8. Put the puck on net ! No speed , no size and no scoring!
Let's see what happens in next few weeks regarding trades . Thanks Gil , very good analysis!

  9. Blaming Roy? Before that it was Lambert. Before that Trotz had lost his touch. This team needs a shake up. Move some veterans. Not everyone but get some new blood in here.

  10. Good 🌄, Gil. How are you? Once again, THE ISLANDERS DESERVED EVERYTHING THEY GOT, AND TO ADD INSULT TO INJURY, IT CAME FROM THOSE DREADED RANGERS AT 🏡. They were FLAT, FLAT, FLAT. THEY imploded, and I'll bet Patrick Roy exploded after the 🌙 was over. Ilya Sorokin was awful in goal, and he had no support and ended up being lifted by Jakob Skeric. It was like they fell back into that 1972 ⏲️ warp again. The Rangers are having a disappointing season, too, that is what made it worse. Hero, Alexander Romanov for scoring the only goal. 🐐, COMMUNITY EFFORT ALL THE WAY AROUND. I ❤ the Islanders to death, but if they're going to make they playoffs, they'll need LOTS AND LOTS OF 🙏. Lou Lamoriello's been there for 25 years, and he's got a Stanley Cup as a GM for the 😈, but he needs to do a 🔥 sale. Bridgeport went 0-1-1 they got a loser point. HAPPY 🎂, MARTY REASONER. He scored his only as an Islander in a 5-3 win against the 🐧. Hear from you later, Gil, and as you can tell I used the word dreaded when describing the Rangers. Now, I'm going to ⌚️ Game 2 of the 1981 Semifinals between the Islanders and those dreaded Rangers when it was fun to 👀 the Islanders beat them, AND SOUNDLY, TOO. Now, LET'S GO ISLANDERS.

  11. I am 52 years old and i come from the school of winning the stanley cup year after year. I want to say something. I heard lamoriello once say if you get into the dance ( playoffs) anything can happen. Lou your implying lets be good enough to just get in and then TAKE OUR CHANCES. Lou, listen this is the New York Islanders. The greatest dynasty in the history of professional sports. Tell me one other team in any sport that has won 19 consecutive playoff series .Here on Long Island because of the incredible legacy and accomplishments of Al Arbour and Bill Torrey the only thing acceptable is to win the stanley cup EVERY YEAR. THAT IS THE ONLY OPTION.Thats what happens when you are the greatest dynasty in all of professional sports.

  12. Goalies are going to have bad nights, it happens to the best of them. Having 2 weeks off is not good for any goalie.

  13. Gm Gil. If your team can't must the effort and quality of play against your primary rival it should be time to tear down your roster and move on from those who don't belong. Instead these folks get long term contracts. Lou has to be included in those who should be moved on from.

  14. Great analysis of this vomitous performance at home against our biggest rivals. If that didn’t show Lou that we can’t regularly compete, nothing will. Defense is too small and Offense can’t HIT THE NET!!!

  15. Time for a complete rebuild from top to bottom. Lou needs to go TODAY. I have really not been impressed by Roy either. He hasn't got through to the players and they have had numerous games where they look disinterested to start the game like they did under Lane Lambert. Time for a great big toilet flush of the front office and team…

  16. Start the rebuild by moving Sorokin. Good but certainly not elite. I disagreed with giving him all that money and years.

  17. Trade Nelson and Palmieri before deadline. Romanov, Barzal and Horvat….that's it. And Barzal doesn't shoot enough. Little too content to skate around and hold the puck.

  18. I remember Lou Lamarella firing Claude Julien late in the season even with the Devils in a playoff position. Patrick Roy is in danger of being terminated because he is unable to motivate his players to play consistent winning hockey.

  19. I am a Rangers fan, but I watch your podcasts because of your candor. I agree with your analysis–good time now for Isles to sell.

  20. Hi Gil! It pains me that our fans had to hear their chant all game long! Pains me to know our fans took that long putrid walk back to their mocking chants. Rempke looked like a star last night!! This team has zero cojones and I’ve seen enough for this year. Louless your a pure has been. Owners up yours!! You know where you can put your Gm ! I’ll be in touch Gil but I’ve had my full for this year. No toughness, no scoring, running our goalies, free parking in front of our net, constant running of our players all year long. Gil—I called it early—-we got run out of many buildings this year, we got bullied and we got intimidated. Rum this crap back all ya want—-screw ownership and their joke of a senile Gm!! You take care Gil—-enough is enough for 2024-25 crap Isles hockey!!

  21. At this point, if they decide on a total rebuild, I'm all for it. I would trade everyone.

  22. Your next book should called "Fundamentals of Ice Hockey", and dedicated to the 24-25 NY Islanders. You are so right about that game. Poor goaltending, poor defense (both d-men and fowards), poor offense (as ive said before, my grandmother could have stopped those NYI shots). On that goal by JT Miller, goalie Sorokin just stood in his crease, and then went down to his knees, and the puck went in between his legs. And Nelson just stood there and watched. Isles should call Zdeno Chara to come out of retirement. Hes the only one who can move opponents out of in front of the goalie – including Remke.

  23. Gil I gotta say besides that disaster of a game all the fans were great on both sides of course there's boneheads but during our anthem I actually felt the unity we were all chanting USA 🇺🇸 🇺🇸 USA 🇺🇸 it felt so good

  24. Gil there are games that are just weird.

The Rangers got blizted 8-2 recently. They still can't score 5 on 5. Lavs put the 4th line out there which is starting to look like the Isles crash line 2020…and the puck deflected three times, I've never seen that…not even a clever deflection, just hit someone. They didn't play that badly. The way defenseman are dropping though. Dallas lost 2 D and then the Rangers lost Miller and Fox. The lower eastern teams are all the same honestly. Mediocre. A snore. Players to move, Nelson did nothing in the 4 nations and seemed disinterested in this must win game. Also Anders Lee did nothing. Be good if they could move both or cut who they can't trade also Tsyplakov since the match penalty and suspension is scared to play his physical game. Sorry but that is what needs to be done. Everyone is movable except for Dobber, Barzy Horvath and Sorokin.

The point is it doesn't matter what happened in this weird game and the fact the Ranger fans had a party in their own building which was embarrassing…it's too late, this was the last chance game. They are done. And what does it say they are the worst team in the AHL by far? This proud franchise has really hit bottom.

  25. You spoke my language, Gil. You said what I have to said. There's no
hope as long as Lou is around. Lou doesn't get it. He has done nothing
to make the team better these last few years, and it sure seems like the Islanders
are getting worse than getting better. Ownership has every right to ask questions.
Of course, whether they care is another story.

  26. I didn't even watch the 2nd half of the game. The Islanders were down by 3 at that point, and any interest and excitement I had going into the game was lost.
