Truly delusional. This team is 2 players removed from being the San Jose Sharks. Reality check. I think Connor Brown would not even make the Sharks roster. When he says Bouchard plays well. Bowman time to get those glasses replaced. Oh screw it. Just over pay everyone Bowman then the fans can call for your job in a few years if not sooner. The fans would support Bouchard more if they saw some effort and emotion from him when he screws up. Maybe his emotional makeup doesn't allow him to play with emotion. Something is missing. Bowman obviously goes to bed way too early. Bouchard has been playing great? He is the second highest player in the NHL with 100 giveaways and if they gave the opposition assists to goals their giveaways lead to, he might be leading the lead in scoring. Bouchard's play has nothing to do with ability. It's 100% the result of his lack of urgency and effort in defensive play. He just doesn't give a damn.
Eberyone who is harping on Bowman here, keep in mind its his first full season as GM of the Oilers. Once the season is over (hopefully after we win the cup), he can start to put his hands on this team the way he sees this team going forward.

the only weaknesses that undermine oilers success is:
1: DEFENCE NEEDS TO DIG IN AND SHUTDOWN THE PLAYERS COMING OVER THE BLUE LINE & STAY OUT OF GOALIE CREASE AND HIS LINE OF SIGHT ON ANY SHOTS THAT GET BY DEFENCE MEN COVERING THEIR MAN.
2: FORWARDS NEED NEW SHOT ON GOAL SKILLS AND BE ABLE TO BE UNPREDICTABLE . CURRENTLY OTHER TEAMS KNOW ALL 5 TYPES OF SCORING PLAYS THAT OILERS USE AND HAVE EASILY SHUT THOSE 5 STRATEGIES DOWN .
MORE UNPREDICTABLE PASSING DRILLS And PRACTICES NEEDED WITH ABILITY TO BE COMFORTABLE WITH MANY TRICKS TO RANDOMIZE THOSE SKILLS , SO OTHER TEAMS CAN'T PREDICT WHAT THEY WILL DO.
CURRENTLY ALL SCORING STRATEGIES BY ALL OILER FORWARDS ARE EXPECTED AND EASILY SHUTDOWN BECAUSE THEY ONLY HAVE A FEW VARIATIONS .
Sure a goalie with more experience might be beneficial , but until above 2 weaknesses are overcome . no goalie on earth will be enough to ignore the issues not addressed . period .
– OILERS NEED : NEW DEFENCE COACH , TEACHING @ the blue line incoming rush play shutdown the man SKILLS
– OILERS NEED : NEW GOALIE COACH
– OILERS NEED : More game review and interactions with video coach and line coaches to fix weaknesses , problems etc. and or improve pairings etc based on track record history

These were Jeff Jackson plays but Holloway and Foegele cap hit 5.8M combined and this year they have 72 points. Arvidsson and Skinner combined cap hit 7M they have 40 points while reducing our team speed and physicality. Hindsight is 20/20 but I am pretty sure Management would like a re-do!

Bowman is blind ?😜 or something wrong with his head ? 😂The "team" or should I say "group of people" are NOT playing well and have lost most of their games to the top 10 teams in the NHL. The defense is terrible, the goaltending is below 0.90, and most players run like a herd of sheep, shuffled like cards by the shepherd Knob with very little results. The only bright spot is Leon, who scores consistently. Bowman, you need to find a consistent goalie, a top defenseman, and a strong third line center ASAP.

Thanks for the interview. He’s very well spoken and polished. Scares me that he’s such a good salesmen with recent poor track record in Chicago, He inherited those championship teams in Chicago. Then there’s the sexual abuse scandal. I’ll never understand why the Oilers would choose a GM with so much baggage. Was he that good of a salesmen? Oilers can’t afford to waste another year of 97 & 29 while this GM tries to get a grip of things. We are at the prime of McDavids career!
