  1. Players shouldn't be able to whine and complain about playing on a losing team, then be traded to a Stanley Cup favorite like the Panthers. In the offseason, Florida should trade the POS Jones and sign Sam Bennett! FYI: Seth Jones is NOT a game changer. He's a player who receives $9mil and plays like a $2mil player.

  2. the hawks have made eight 1st rd. picks in their last 3 drafts. the hawks currently have two more 1st rd. picks this season, and (currently) have two more 1st rd. picks in either the 2026 or 2027 drafts. that's a job well done imo.

  3. The Hawks win this trade going away because they got rid of a big contract (with surprisingly less retained than I expected) for an older, declining player, plus they get a young, up and coming blue chip goalie AND a 1st round pick. I didn't think they'd be able to unload that contract at all. The Panthers probably get the better player right now, but he's already in his 30s and even with the retention, he's not a cheap player. As a bottom pairing, he's fine, but giving up a good young goalie and a 1st is pretty steep. Chicago didn't need to free up cap space, but now they have even more of it. On the other side, the Panthers add an overpriced, aging defenseman who is unlikely to bump anyone out of their top 4. As a veteran presence, sure, but that's a hell of a price to pay for that.
