  1. The Toronto Maple Leafs arrived to Calgary with a stone cold gaze that soon extended onto the ice where the Calgary Flames were burned by the pure dominant performance of the buds. GO LEAFS GO!

  2. I hope Dubas finds a way to sign Simmonds an extension, he’s a heart and soul player. Maybe 3 years deal.

  3. No ones gonna talk about how Tkachuk clinched Matthew's leg after he fell down in front of Markstrom?

  4. OK, two games in a row that we could have won and yet we did not. I think Flames players need to sit and watch some other teams playing hockey like: Canadians, Bruins, Jets, Blues etc. very disappointing.

  5. Leafs need to add a Connor Murphy type of d. He instantly would be the Leafs most physical player , big , will fight ,instantly a top 4 d the Leafs need to add .

  6. Those Flames jerseys are, well… flames! Also the North Division is amazing. Loving these all Canadian matchups.

  7. Simmonds makes a nice play to get his own rebound for the finish. Top line of Calgary looks really good combining for five points. But Toronto gets the win on Marner’s late third period goal. Perfect.

  8. I'm a life long Leaf fan and as far as pure offensive talent the Leafs the past 3 seasons have had the best in my life. That being said the two glaring problems are still present that'll prevent a deep playoff run. It so frustrates me. Watch the Leafs forecheck and then go back and watch any team in the finals the past couple years and you should see a big difference. The Leafs still present no physical threat on the opposing teams defense when forechecking. They never finish hits(finishing being running into the opposing player within 2 seconds or less of him releasing the puck). They skate towards them then do a quick turn as if always trying to predict an errant pass. When the d is under no physical pressure at this level of skill they'll almost never make bad decisions or rush a breakout. All of the teams who make it deep these days have a very physical forecheck. The other obvious one is goaltending. Had they gotten even a .910 save percentage to Columbus' .930 something they wouldve advanced. Same can be said for series in previous years against Boston. Nobody wins a cup without a goalie putting up generally a .920 and has Freddy ever come close in the playoffs. He's a mid pack goalie, closer to the bottom in the regular season but way below in the playoffs. If I hear another pure arm chair coach say they need defence I'm gonna explode. You don't go out and spend a trillion dollars on offensive players then try to make them into a defensive team. They up the urgency and physicality of their forecheck and they'll average 4 goals a game and defence will become less important. The forecheck is where the d begins and they need that fixed.
