Im still optimistic and confident that we are gonna make the playoffs. This is the time where the players will show what they are made of. Fitzy is now forced to make a move/s. Minimum 2 players, better 3. That will also send a message to the players as well that he believes in them as well. Lets go Devils!!!

As others have mentioned, Fitz's drafting has been really poor. He had three number ones and wasted them on Holtz, Mercer, Muk. Throw in the Stillman wasted pick, selecting Nemec when we needed a forward (e.g. Logan Cooley) etc, Fitz has done a piss poor job.
I believe Ace. Old school fan when Sean Burke made a run. I think a couple of moves and we are good.

I hate to say it but bastion is awful and I don't know what is up with tuna turns the puck over all the time Lazar who knows with him . I like haula but terrible year he is having cotter isn't bad but not the same as earlier but he will be ok in the future but that's it

I want to see some heart. Get in the playoffs. Do it for Jack. I do not think the Eastern Conference is that strong this year. Yes, the Capitals have been fantastic with no signs of letting up, but they do not scare me. Western Conference teams vs Eastern Conference teams are very different this season. Just size wise, we looked like a college program vs Vegas I thought.
Have some heart! Get some reinforcements. No rentals unless dirt dirt cheap, players who can be under control and can help next season. LGD.
Also, fans who want to throw in the towel because "we aren't cup contenders" are not fans of the Devils or the sport of Hockey. Anything can happen in playoff hockey. How many people considered the wildcard Panthers a contender when they made the cup 2 years ago? Probably not a lot.
Someone mentioned the fraility of the team. I think they are more frail mentally to be honest. Aside from the Dallas game, there have been very few times they bouncerd back from adversity. Wether it was injuries or fallling behind in games.
I see this as a unique opportunity to see how this team plays WITHOUT Jack.. not over a short period of time , even though it may be that. but actually without Jack Hughes. Meaning, Fitz uses this LTIR correctly, and creates a team without Jack, how does that play out? Is there a world where they pivot from the Hughes direction, even a little? Not saying that’s the move, but I’m sure we’ve all thought about it , here is a sample of what that looks like.
That said, I am not sure about Rantanen – I would prefer more bodies for the money. Also, a chance we play Canes 1st round, whoever we trade to them will light us up!

My dream scenario : Fitz makes couple of acquisitions , we make playoffs , go on a semi-decent run ( past first round ) , trade both Hughes brothers for Brady in offseason , win the cup next season . Never hurts to dream
Dumoulin not a bad move given the blue line situation, though the price was a bit steep. We should use our last retention slot to pick up a few magic beans.
