Considering Doumoulin went for a 2nd, the Oilers should be thrilled with this.
It's interesting that they feel the Oilers' defense is thin, even though 3 of their d men (Nurse, Ekholm, and Bouchard) would be the top d man in Toronto's d core. The Oilers have been playing poorly the last couple weeks, but even with that, the Oilers have allowed exactly 2 more goals in the same number of games as the Leafs, despite the Leafs having had better performances from their goaltenders so far this season.

One of the great Yzerman blunders. So glad he kept Holl but traded Walman for less than nothing. So glad.
Jesse, not all RW fans are hyped about how S.f.Y handles Wallman. The majority of us fans are still very divided if it weren't for S.f.Y hating the player's goal gesture or for him saying something stupid. Then I'm getting a little disappointed in the three of you when you don't choose to humiliate S.f.Y even more that Wallman is worth a first pick today, let alone a late first pick from Edmonton. I simply assume they'll go far this year with him. S.f.Y is the GM who is the most absent of the GMs in the league. That he still has a job left is a mystery to me.

2:51 not 6 months later but Sean Monahan was traded with a 1st to the habs for nothing, then they flipped him to the Jets for a 1st. Calgary also missed the playoffs that year too. Literally how tf did GM’s not learn their lesson at this point lmao.

Yeah as a Wings fan, I have not been a fan of what Yzerman has been doing around the edges, even if the team overall is a bit better. But the problem now is they're milquetoast AF. They might creep into the playoffs but overall that doesn't mean much.
Stevie can draft, I have t seen him really do anything else good. His contracts are decent, trades have been underwhelming or just straight questionable and bad. He doesn’t sign good free agents either. He drafts good and that’s all

As a Redwings fan I lost faith in Yzerman about 2 seasons back. A lot of wings fans still have blinders on when it comes to Yzerman as they still see him as "The Captain" and that's the problem with great players when they become coaches or GMs fanbases can't separate player from office in my opinion.
Yzerman gets too much credit for his time in Tampa Bay.
My take on Yzerman as a life long wings fan…great player…bad GM.
