Marner had a chance to go deep into the playoffs maybe win the cup with Carolina, that's something he will never do with the leafs, money is more important to him Chicago is waiting at 15×7 that's why they made the Jones to Florida to get more cap space

Most of the media and fans are under the illusion that the 11 million (Marner) + 5 million ( Tavares savings) =16 million of free cap space this summer, is going to get them a bunch of great players…. Tell me who they all are? Maybe get ya 3 Domi's?

The WHOLE demon in the Marner saga, is the player agent. These greedy RATS will brainwash and steer the players to their demise, for that extra money on TOP of the money they didnt deserve in the first place! Amen to every player that has negotiated a contract without an agent. That did it without the rat that talks players into bleeding every penny from the team, so that they can leech more from the player! They are the WHOLE problem with the league and most sports. The middleman that does NOTHING. Never has to go under the knife to fix their shoulder or groin. Never has to take a stick or puck to the face! Just leech off the guy who works their ass off!
You have to blame the players a bit though, for not understanding, the negative PR the agents lead them to. And why? So that after one fan base is sick of Marner, he can convince him to cash in on a free agent payday to fatten Marner's wallet (to fatten his own wallet) even more.
If these guys had an F'N conscience, they'd advise the player, how leaving a million or 2 on the table would make them a GOD for life in their market. But no, they want that extra cash so bad, theyd rather see their leeching-host-provider burned at the stake.

Laughton looked dazzled by the speed of the Avalanche and even by the speed of his own team. But playing your first game at altitude with a new team has got to be difficult. Laughton is gonna be fine. Marner and Tavares looked great. You guys are good. Go Av’s.

You guys have the worst takes on Marner and this is no exception. What you guys didn't mention is if Carolina expected him to sign long term with them as part of the deal. Why would marner sign with Carolina if he not willing to sign with the leafs??
Also he gets no credit for wanting to stay with his hometown team and battle for a cup. Not to mention the fact that he is born and raised in Toronto and the suggestion is that he packs up and moves to Carolina on the verge of making a push for a cup on the hometown team he's played his entire career with is what anyone in his situation would do.
