  1. I think Sweeney did well. Marchand is an injured 36 year old who is a UFA. It’s a first round pick when the Bruins had nothing in their system. I’m very happy with this offseason. They should have done this a year ago. A first for renting Marchand is excellent. They also wanted to make Brad happy and the rumor is Florida was his choice.

  2. regardless of the return for the trade the only thing Sweeny got right was saying "REBUILD" most other deals are already lost. Bring up the Baby B's

  3. Sweeney CANNOT draft !! I don’t care how many picks they get he cannot see young talent. Al we heard about was Lyzell – don’t know the spelling- take a look at his awful numbers now. He never even made a callup with all the garbage they did call. They have no farm system and with Sweeney they never will. SWEENEY needs to go !!!

  4. I agree with you on mostly everything. In my past comments I said I wanted to move Coyle (who I love) because I think Geekie can fill that role if needed, and has higher offensive upside, and is far younger. Carlo I like, some people think he sucks. I'll bet it's the same crowd that thought Rask and Krejci sucked. Whatever. I do not debate with the Felger crowd.
Minten can now try and fill the Coyle 3C role. If anyone things that Carlo is going to be easily replaceable at that cap #, well….But at least they got a need back from the Leafs and a pick. It also helps that the Leafs aren't winning a damned thing anyway. That is how the universe works.
The hardest part is, we don't know the situation and how it played out with Marchand. Friedman last night mentioned there was a decent gap in what he wanted, and what Sweeney was willing to do. Marchand not willing to do 1 year deals hurts, but I also get that he has been underpaid for years to let the team be better overall. Basically the opposite of how the Leafs players operate. I wonder what that does to the culture of the team, and how the leaders feel about that. Friedman mentioned that Marchand told them if he is moved, to move him to the Panthers and that also could have muted the return. He's injured, who knows if he plays, and when. If Marchand at the end of the day said "send me there so I can try to win" that changes a lot of the narrative and make everything much easier to stomach. I was livid at the return until I heard some of the comments on the 32 thoughts pod last night. It put a few things in a better perspective.
Overall, Sweeney did a very good job over the past few days and then left us with a ** sandwich at the end of the day that pissed most of us off.
Now becomes the more fun part, are Sweeney and Neely capable of the drafting side. Have they listened to the scouts in the past, and the scouts just aren't up to par, or, did Sweeney and Neely disagree with the scouts and pick who they wanted.
And yes, I am still pissed off at 2019 and just as much pissed that they had a 2 goal lead in game 1 vs Chicago with 12 minutes to go in the 3rd and blew that series right then and there.
We have sucked before, but, if Hampus comes back (and he is hugely important), they are further ahead than last time we sucked with having some legit core players still on this roster, and at ages that make sense.
One thing that made me want to strangle someone was that pinhead in Buffalo giving Greenway $4mil. My first thought was that Geekie's agent just had the biggest ** eating grin on his face when he saw that one.
We have had a hell of a run, should have won at least 1 more Cup, but it could be a lot worse. It has been a lot worse.
    How old is Tenkrat now?
One last thing, I have told my almost 11 year old son a bunch of times "I really should despise the Panthers, and don't. They are the closest thing to the 2011 Bruins, and when the Bruins were good than any other team I can remember. They are chippy, dirty, and they figure out a way to win."
They just happened to stomp on our hearts in the process.

  5. Panthers are going to be tough to beat if there all healthy for there run to Lord Stanley’s house. I’ve heard stories from players who have played against Marchand. Now imagine putting Bennet and Tkachuk together on a line. What kind of disaster will come from the 3 of them. Now for the Bruins, I’m glad Marchand got let go and the bruins should be wary if they manage to get into the playoffs and face a friend, Captain, BostonBruinhero, they will get blown out. I don’t see this franchise getting a Stanley Cup in the next 10 years.

  6. Trading Brad marchand is one of the most biggest mistakes in bruins history, I don’t care if you get a good return or not he is a loyal bruin and he deserves to retire as a bruin, Don Sweeney should be fired immediately!

  7. Now, the bruins are trying to kiss and make up with the fan base for their trade of Brad; kissy kissy while they Finger-F you in the back, and yet, they can only muster a segment that is only 1.50 minutes of highlights.. What a shame, management and coaching need an enema. You've let Chara go, you let Marchand go, you lost McQuaid, Recci, Boychuk…all the deep heart of Boston and their strength; empty shell and management is clueless. Barely keeping a 500 mark on games you re-hire two schmoes that you let go earlier?

This is like getting married and finding out your wife (management) has been sleeping around since your engagement. They are just chimps in the space capsule, clicking buttons.

  8. Basically confirmed everything during the second period break on ESPN. Emily Kaplan confirmed Marchy wanted more than 2 years, was offered 3 but said the money wasn't up to his value. He went Swayman on them. Also he knows Staff and players in Florida and his family is on the east coast. Also it is possible he goes back to Boston at the end of the season and Boston management said they are open to it. Basically I think he is being allowed a run at the Cup again with Florida and will return to retire as a Bruin. Imo. Think about it, will be a great story and Legacy.

  9. What rebuild? This is called cutting the payroll. Next move will be hiring a coach with even less ability. What makes you think that the same people who dismantled the 2011 team is capable of rebuilding anything. Other than Charlie McAvoy and Trent Federic, how has their drafting been? The only way this team will improve is if the fans stop paying NHL ticket price to watch AHL hockey, or Jeremy Jacobs sells the team.

  10. Honestly the leadership was not giving the team a good message.. the team was slack and sloppy all year.. if Marchand plays 50% of playoff games they get a first.. Carlo deal is okay.. it might have been something coaching wanted as his minutes declined… he will do well with the Leafs… and watching Colorado game, his minutes is already way up. I wonder if there was something going on …. Carlo is a great guy but his statement after being traded was super positive. Maybe the Bruins and him just mutually wanted the change… Coyle they got a great return and dropped his 5$ mil cap

  11. Side note after Saturday games… Carlo played the most minutes on the leafs in the first game there.. I was wondering if he was playing hurt or something in Boston as he was quite often the lowest minutes.. I guess he must have been in the doghouse with Sacco or someone. He seems pretty happy with the Leafs and I wish him the best.

  12. Coyel and carlo had contracts so that makes a difference. They don't have to worry about trying to resign and for over another year. Both of them to where is with machine. They have to sign him this year, so if he doesn't sign then they waste the first round. Pick or vice versa. Whatever they lose, they're gonna lose out. And if we don't and if we didn't do anything we would've lost out because of brad myself and sons with somebody else during the summer time then we wand if he comes back and signs with us again we win so it's basically a win win situation I think
