The Rangers are not going to make the playoffs. The coaching leaves a lot to be desired when players are always out of position. Where is the structure?
The only way Laviolette survives getting fired is to earn a Wild Card berth and make it to the Stanley Cup final.
Why waste a wild card spot on the NY Rangers. All the other teams in contention are better
100% on Drury. He's been changing the culture in the back office and on the ice. There was a lot of resistance to that and instead of compromising he went to war with the leadership of the team. Goodrow, Trouba, Krreider. That was 100% of the issue. He went to war with his team and his team went on strike. That strike seems to be over (except Laffy) but the team morale is incredibly low and that shows up in the backchecking.
The biggest problem on the team is K'Andre Miller who has no business playing in the NHL, I see all the "potential" but he plays entire games without getting hit a single time. That shows his priority is not getting hit, not getting the puck. I will never believe that Lavy and Gallant put Miller on the ice shift after shift with no consequences voluntarily. It has to be the front office demanding his ice time. The defense is worse now than when the season started. Vaakananian, De Haan, Jones, Schneider, Soucey, are all third pair at best. Even Borgen was a career 3rd pair although he stepped up to a legit 2nd pair D, and that's it. Borgen and a bunch of sixth and seventh D men. How do you win like that?
The best outcome is for NYR to miss the playoffs. Let players such as Fox and Kreider heal and let the loss of revenue and competitiveness hit coaching and executive ranks hard.
