  1. So some research, Jake fit great and wanted to sign and GMDW played games and didn’t meet his number until too late due to us having a cap crunch

  2. These same guys bitched for years about how Toronto would do the own rental thing and get no returns in a year where they’re not going to win the cup like JVR. Carolina is not a cup contender this year, look at the defense and look at the center depth. So when they make a sensible move to retain future assets and get capital instead of losing 3 players (Necas, Drury and Rantanen) total over the space of like 5 months. The “Oh Carolina messed up, cheap owner, bad management etc. “ narrative is complete BS. You guys shoot from the hip so much on any non traditional hockey market it’s embarrassing. Don’t even bother listening to the full interview or bother reading the transcript. these guys are given hockey commentary/journalism credit what a joke.

  3. To quote Stankoven himself, everything happens for a reason! Yes, Carolina took a gamble that didn't work out as originally planned but they hedged properly so they still raked in a great return. Hall is going to be LETHAL in the playoffs and Stankoven's first ever NHL game was actually in Carolina so it kind of turned out to be one of those fate things. When you factor in the Jankster and the draft picks too, it's a pretty good return for Necas who wanted out more than your beloved Mitch wants out of Toronto! Mikko is going to have his "what if I stayed in Carolina?" moments much more than Carolina fans wonder "what if Mikko stayed?" in the future…

  4. Jake Guentzel is not the same. You guys couldn't be more wrong, per usual. He wanted to be in Carolina but they low-balled him. Then when they matched it was too late. He was all about staying a Hurricane. It's wild how that narrative has floated around but is so wrong.

  5. Anyone who says the Canes fumbled it is just saying that they should have done egregious tampering before engaging in the trade with Colorado, pure and simple. Considering the end result we'll see how Hall and Stank play out for the rest of the season but looks to me they came out maybe slightly behind or even for this season but greatly ahead for the future. Necas has been a decent but not great playoff performer and didn't want to stay in Carolina anyway.

  6. Here is a thought for you. Think about Jordan Staal. How pissed is he at the moment. . . . Carolina got future assets – he is looking at the mirror and thinking does he have the miles left wating Carolina to get good. He has 2 years remaining on the contract after this season.

  7. What everyone is failing to realize is that this Hurricanes teams has been playing terrible since Dec and had no chance to win the cup with Necas or Rantanen. Funny enough they are starting to look a lot better post trade deadline. But this was always supposed to be a down year because of all of the free agents they lost last summer. If they make it past the first round, it’s all gravy at that point.

  8. If they wanted to keep these players… they should have dealt for sign and trades. How they managed to make this mistake twice is mind blowing.

  9. If you had told Canes fans that we traded necas and drury for Taylor Hall, Stankoven and two firsts, we would all be thrilled. These guys are such douchenozzles. Have fun with the leafs never winning a cup I guess.

  10. after watching mikko in carolina im not surprised andy scott tried to save face on his client. rantanen is a diva. team gave up a lot for him and came here and dogged it the whole time. aho, who he’s known for years, offered his home to him while he adjusted. he declined. but i’m supposed to believe he was giving this a shot? just straight up lying for your client but. okay.

also, jake guentzel was the same? yeah that’s a pure lie. guentzel was over a point a game here… he wanted to stay. that’s on dundon. rod is still bitter about it if you actually listen to his interviews, i feel like he’s taking shots at dundon every time he mentions guentzel. had nothing to do with “want”.

and what asset are you missing? one year of martin necas who never fit in great here. i’m sorry i know PoInTs = gOoD but he didn’t. rod did not like him because he was invisible for long stretches and a massive negative when he’s not hot. he’ll be great in colorado. better fit. but he was NEVER staying beyond next year. you turn another year and change of that and some smaller pieces into stankoven and two firsts, im supposed to be upset about that? lmao.

and the canes aren’t cup contenders this year. never were. mikko was a future move, not this year. brent burns is very washed. dmitry orlov is very washed. that being 1/2 of the top four of a team this defensively oriented… they’re just not a cup contender man it’s not happening. slavin only makes up for so much.

but talk to me next year when nikishin and morrow are here.

  11. Completely misinformed about the Guentzel issue. He left because Canes were lowballing the proposed contract.

  12. The Canes have so far been doing better without Rantanen, so…🤷🏻‍♂️

That being said, losing Necas hurts. 😭

  13. I'm just waiting for Rantanen to score the game 7 OT winner against Colorado and then the same thing in SCF game 7 OT against Carolina and become the absolutely most hated man by 2 franchises for years to come 😀

  14. No, they didn't, Rantanen was a losing proposition. He could have been a great addition but HE chose not to be. The canes would have been better not trading Necas and picking up the guys they did some other way.

  15. Well Jankowski had two goals again tonight. Carolina just has to come to terms with that their system does not and will not cater to superstars and that is part of the strength of this team. Brindamour took a languishing franchise and has made it consistently competitive. He knows the type of player that fits into his system and the fact is Tulski needs to come to terms with that. Trading Miko to Dallas cut out a very severe blemish on the Canes. I hope Miko does well in Dallas but he would never have done well with the Canes and he made himself a distraction. Whatever the real facts are, they pale to the fact that he was a distraction and was hurting the team. What else do we need to know? I feel good about all the players that came to the Canes after all this. And I feel good that our goalie situation is beginning to solidify. The Canes are a contender. They are a good organization. And Canes fans have something to always look forward too. Thanks for a great video.
