Tank all the way😊
Do you want to make the playoffs or get a high pick?
I completely agree. Seeing how some teams like Pittsburgh are clearly 100% invested in competing still and seeing how many games in hand we have over some of the remaining teams behind us gives me hope that we will drop further in the draft.
Of the players I am interested in seeing play in spite of hopefully tanking are
Geekie – how close can he get to 30 goals?
Middelstadt – all reasons you outlined
Khusnutdinov – all reasons you outlined
Jokiharju – can he grab a permanent spot on the right side?
Peeke – with Carlo gone, I have been impressed with Peeke stepping up. Can he permanently elevate his game and be a replacement on the right for Carlo?
Lysell – what the heck do we have in this young player? It's going to be really interesting to see what he does or doesn't do with his call up
Lohrei – I smell bad fortune on the horizon with Hampus. Lohrei's development is going to be instrumental if we're going to fast-track a retool to a new window while McAvoy and Pastrnak are still in their primes.
Yes. I am at the point where every time someone from the organization talks about the playoffs it just makes me angry. The season has been over for quite some time…..just tank into a good lottery pick and reassess this summer man. This management team desperately needs that kick in the nads or else they will continue down a path of limbo/mediocrity lol. And I never cheer for this team to lose, but in the short term, it is good for them to embrace the temporary tank and they need to stop prioritizing playoffs or even thinking from that perspective. I worry that the only reason we are not going full youth right now is because these dummies really think it’s worth trying to scrape into the playoffs. That’s a problem. They are all but mathematically eliminated. So it’s frustrating to hear management and certain players on the team whisper sweet nothings about the playoffs. One could easily argue that is not even good for this team right now 😂. So again, I very rarely encourage my own team to lose. And I certainly am not encouraging the players to play poorly on purpose. But from a managerial perspective, this team needs to stop operating like playoffs are even the goal. They are making it a little bit too obvious for my taste that they only care about butts in seats at this point. The team doesn’t need to have a 10 year rebuild, but they can’t just pretend and avoid reality either. Which appears to be what they are actively doing, And I find that extremely frustrating.
You just play to the best of your abilities. There is no harm with the coaches trying some different line combo's etc. We get what pick we get.
Even Sacco is getting on my nerves at this point because it seems like he’s just a mouthpiece for Sweeney and Cam. “ We’re only three points out that’s the focus right now blah blah blah blah couple teams in the standings, blah blah blah. We’re right there blah blah blah blah blah.” Get rid of him too lol. They should be playing Lysell and every other prospect in the system for all remaining games left and not care what the results of those growing pains are. In fact, if that helps us land a better lottery pick that’s just a bonus lol. I am extremely fearful that the only reason they aren’t doing this until the season is over is because the jabronis really think prioritizing playoffs should be the move. In that case, I would like to see a clean house from top to bottom this summer. And it won’t happen, but I’m tired of being gaslit by greedy ownership that would rather be mid just so they can sell a couple hotdogs in the first round.
I'm not sure if Sacco is the right guy to coach young players. Who might be available if Sweeney, Neely, Jacobs want someone else?
Definitely thank
I am very unsettled by how obvious it is that Bruins ownership/management is still in complete shock and disbelief over what happened this season. They want to treat everything like it’s a one off….just a little blip…like everybody’s just gonna bounce back and have a career again like they did the last two years. Hate to break it to you Don, but that’s one of the main reasons why the team was over performing so much. Eventually players like Pavel Zacha go back to being 30-40 point players and you need to build a roster with actual talent instead of shopping in the bargain bin for a diamond in the rough. They got by long enough, but this ends here
Minten is going to be very good
yes absolutely they should tank.they'd be picking top 10 now but keep losing you could get a lottery pick or somewhere btwn 5 and 8 which this year would be great!-go bruins!
Completely agree with the tank. Step 1: get DiPietro & Bussi up from Providence. Sit Korpy & Sway for the rest of the way.
For me, the only guys that exceeded expectations were Pasta, Geekie & Koepke.
That covered it all. Nothing important to add here
So I'll just talk about unimportant things
It seems like we're already going for the tank.
Leaving McAvoy injured. If we were heading to playoffs, with any hope of getting anywhere, I'm guessing he would suddenly become healthy enough to play?
This Western road trip just might give you what you're wishing for!
A Tank
Or, they're going to let loose have fun and surprise everybody.
Based on the lineup we had at the beginning of the season, I was pretty sure we'd be able to squeak into playoffs.
But Columbus decided to start playing this year. Montreal's rebuild is coming along quite successfully.
Oh I remember 2005. 🙄
I used to sit in my truck out in the driveway listening to games, studying goalie coaching.. it was a frustrating season so I was better off out in the driveway than in the house… the kids could sleep and I could go banana pants! Lol!
What's interesting is Jeff Gorton was only an interim GM… Who was fired after signing Chara, Savard, drafting Kessel, Lucic & Marchand & traded for Tuukka Rask
I'm not sure which is Chiarelli's credit or not?
But Jeff and some important scout buddy of his were fired. I'm sure he was picked up right away, ended up GM with nyr
he's with Montreal now … I've been following their rebuild very closely, Jeff's VP of hockey operations
and their rebuild is going very well.
So it seems Bruins missed the boat on that one!
the most impactful GMS are the ones that are fired?
So sweeney needs to load us up, then get fired!
I'm not real big on putting my money on top draft picks
Lucic #50
Marchand #70something
Krejci #63
Chara was drafted #50something
Bergeron was second round pick
Higher picks don't stick around. (Why I'm afraid Pasta won't stay.)
Kessel #5
Got traded to Pittsburgh to win 2 Stanley cups!
Then of course he won another one with Vegas!
Who did we get for Kessel?
I can't remember who we got for Tyler Seguin either?
Although it makes sense, I don't see the logic in deliberately tanking just to get high draft picks, but whatever works.
We'll see how much they let them party on the West Coast trip, that'll tell us whether they're trying to tank or not!
After watching Casey mittelstadt's mic'd up episode with Morgan geeky? He seems to be all business. I don't think he wants to tank.
Go B's!
🐻
i totally agree about that russian winger.i said who's that no. 92?he's good!i don't agree that middlestat is slow at all,he's a superior skater and the bruins if they have brains should draft QMJHL winger Justin Carbonneau.he's a goal scorer and they need wingers bad!if they keep losing they could snag him but are they intelligent enough to do it???
I am starting an EXPANSION team:
Linus Ullmark in goal.
Marchand as captain
Coyle, Brazeau, as my 2nd line
Carlo, on my blueline.
I'd poach Khusnutdinov and Middlestadt, too.
Now, if only I could find a Jack Adams award winning coach?
That word "draft" makes me tense because of who'll be doing it. Please consider:
Since 2015, the same time as Sweeney's tenure as GM, the B's are second only to Tampa in regular season wins. Tampa has 514. Boston has 496. The top 10 clubs with the most wins in Sweeney's time are:
1. Tampa-514-Cups-2020/2021
2. Bruins-496
3. Washington-494-Cup-2018
4. Jets-468
5. St. Louis-467-Cup-2019
6. Panthers-465-Cup-2024
7. Rangers-464
8. Minnesota-462
9. Pens-461-Cups-2016-2017
10. Avs-460-Cup-2022
*Data from StatsMuse.
Even if the Bruins secure a high first rounder in June, why should I believe Sweeney can hit on the right pick in the important process of returning Boston to Cup contender because he's been unable to translate the B's regular season success by assembling a championship caliber roster in the playoffs after a decade of trying?
I think that it is a good time for them to retool. the rest of this season is going to be hit or miss. I dont see them making the playoffs this year or the next two years. But if they can get the young kids some playing time, and pick up a good center (finally) to play on the top line (zacha is not that bad), then maybe we will see a better team.
13 games left and I love watching the Bruins, but there is a chance their draft position currently at nine could move 4-5 spots closer to the top three picks. We could use a solid top pick in this draft since there isn’t much coming up from the minors. So, I’m ok with losing a few more. Bruins also have two less games than the teams picking ahead of them. Sweeney and Neely have their work cut out for them.
It’s only one season and they’re not even terrible compared to actual tanking teams
People are acting like they’re the sharks or something
Yeeeeeaah at this point just give me Misa and I will be happy as it gets
Things won't get better as long as Sweeney is the Bs GM
I always hope for a playoff push in the wild hopes that a movie is made in 20 years about how a team that traded everyone won the cup with pure hard nosed hockey and the power of boston behind them… butttttty thats most definitely not gonna happen so to see khussy and mittlestadt have major improvements is a big upside, and the joy of a pasternak carry every game is just as good 😭
The tank won't be to difficult, the Bruins are terrible. We may even lose to the Sharks on Saturday.
Restock the cupboard.
I think missing the play-offs would be more beneficial for them. Interesting to see what happens in the summer.
I'm hoping Khusnutdinov becomes the Bruins version of what Nick Suzucki is to the Habs. He sure looks promising. Thanks for bringing some light into this miserable season hahaha. Cheers
I was expecting this last year. This makes this past summer's pickups look stupid. I think the Bruins are heading for a prolonged rough stretch unless they make some office changes. They did a good job of keeping the team competitive for so long but a rebuild is a different animal and requires skills I do not think they have. I'm just glad they didn't go full on Penguins, or it would have been 5 more years before they admitted it was time.
