Bettman has hated the Wings since Mike Ilitch was in the negotiations during the 1995 lockout. Mike didn't want a hard cap because he would spend money to get a top caliber team, and Bettman wanted a hard cap.
I knew it back in 2015 when Kronwall got a suspension for game 7 against Tampa.

There was some awfully officiated games against the WIngs in the playoffs during their 25 year playoff run. There were many goals disallowed due to someone (Holmstrom) in the crease which never went the other way. When you saw commercials on TV it was always the Penguins scoring against the Red Wings when the Wings were the ones who won the cup in 08. No draft lottery "luck" whatsoever. The Wings are a historic original 6 franchise that bring in fans (especially on the road) and high ratings as seen in the Stadium Series this year yet the NHL treats them like a second class team. The Wings were forced to stay in the Western Conference for decades because we helped sell out Western Conference buildings which the NHL admitted to. So glad Bettman is retiring in a couple of years.
I first noticed the NHL hate for Detroit when watching Federov and the other Russian players get abused by other teams and there was never a call. If they got within arms reach of an opponent, they'd get called for something. This continued for years but their talent overcame it. This was NHL bias against all Russian players, it ran especially deep in the Refs. It was particularly noticeable when they played against darling untouchable players, like Gretsky, Messier, and Lemieux. I think Detroit was targeted because they encouraged the defections.
You should not be allowed to rise in the NHL draft lottery 2 years in a row, or drop in the lottery 2 years in a row.
Wings will get lucky this year and draft Eklund.
It's always been regarded as tinfoil, but between the uncalled head shots, the literal thrown stick, the stripes swinging games, and this list of drafting/lottery fuckery I'll be booing Bettman long after he's in the ground.

Detroit was one of the top spending teams before the cap…we are talking about 90 plus million dollar rosters, so when it came to cap implementation they were contarian
What the heck I thought this article was about the fact that the Detroit Red Wings remaining schedule is the toughest in the NHL and has been for the last 10 games a team that did not make the playoffs. Somebody explain that to me.

Bettman makes sure the wings never move up in the draft. The best we can hope for is we keep our current spot every year, unless were top two. Then 100% sure we will fall in the draft. I dont remember a single time since Bettman has run the league the wings went up in the draft when they have the lotto picks to draw who drafts in what order. 50%+ of the time we move down. Our win/loss record has nothing to do with it. Like this video said that year we were by far worst in the league and we dropped to 4th spot? You cant tell me thats dumb luck. Now stupid Bettman is talking of adding two more NHL teams. Great that means we loose at least two more roster players on our already bad team. And like the two last two expansion drafts when Vegas and Seattle came into the league, Bettman makes sure each NHL team cant protect all there good players so the expansion team can get some good players. Not just 3rd/4th line players. Vegas has been better than the wings since they came into the league. I got an idea. Can the wings declare bankruptcy? Loose the team like Phoenix just did. Then say were an expansion team now and the league hold a expansion draft for us to pick from? Because it's been 10+ years since we made the playoffs, at the rate were improving it might be another 20. Since Bettman is making sure we never get a top 2 pick. And if those expansion teams come into the league that means Bettman will guarantee the new teams get a top 2 pick in the first round the first year there in the league. Just like he did for Vegas and Seattle. After all they have to get those new teams a potential star player to build around.

As a life long fan of my hometown wings that was born and raised here in the early 90’s and am still living here, it’s been clear to all of us who have been watching over the years, that Bettman (and a lot of other guys that deal with the entire league), hate the Detroit Red Wings. If it’s clear to us, then the front office definitely sees it too.
There even used to be a hockey website (maybe still around) called “Anyone But Detroit.”

During the 2009 Stanley Cup finals Pittsburgh finished their Conference finals early in either 4 games. Detroit on the other hand won in 5 games, but we're banged up, multiple players we're hurt. What does Gary Bettman do he chose to start the Stanley Cup finals 2 days earlier that was already pre-arranged. Which he purposely did because he knew Detroit was banged up. He robbed Detroit 2 extra days of rest, which definitely affected the outcome of the playoffs!
