#nhl #hockey #philadelphiaflyers

  1. At some time everybody makes a mistake. But how do you coach a player that makes a mistake??? Do you "bench" and emphasize the mistake they already know that they made, or do you "COACH" them on what kind of "play" and "positioning" WILL AVOID THAT MISTAKE THE NEXT TIME??? Do you HELP THEM TO BE BETTER PLAYERS, or DO YOU TRY TO SHAME THEM??? Is ALIENATING your PLAYERS the BEST COACHING STRATEGY???? Scotty Bowman was the "Most Winning" coach, DID HE DO THAT???

  2. Torts will get another job. Yea benching guys dosnt send a good look to you’re team but also the players need to show up. I think there’s to many soft coaches in this league these players get paid millions of dollars to play hockey time to put your big boy pants on and show up. If your getting benched maybe you should ask yourselves is it my play and next game be better. Yea Torts is a character he gets fired up but if that was my coach and I saw him fired up that fire me up as well. I know he dosnt fit with every player but these kids need to learn to play tough and not just show up to collect a paycheck.

  3. I've always loved Torts as a coach and I appreciate the time the Flyers put into him. I don't think he meant this team in rebuild that he wasn't interested in coaching – I think he meant this team that's lost its heart and just has no energy in these games lately.

That said, he was wrong to say that here and deserved to be fired for it – a head coaching job in the NHL needs some measure of PR for the team. It would've made Briere's job a little easier finding talent to bring to the team if Torts put a better face on the coaching position

  4. He will still get hired again relatively soon. Tough year… He’s a legend. Look at his overall record.

  5. He has worn out his welcome in every city he has coached. Players tire of his antics. He won the cup once in 2004, and has ridden that to coaching jobs for 21 years. At this point I have no idea what gm's or owners are thinking when they hire that idiot.

  6. Sell by date was past due. Torts always played games and as he aged he got more nasty. You did not want him around with the younger players they will draft. Rumor has it Cutter jumped ship because of Torts reputation. New day, turn the page.
