Landy is absolutely coming back game 1 or 3 (depending on home ice) of the first round. Between the Altitude sit down interview and the documentary ending the same week that playoffs start, it is a reasonable prediction at this point. Not to mention the documentary is about his recovery… (who does a documentary about a recovery that failed), he will suit up game 1. His joke about playing Wednesday night is too lighthearted for someone who is still trying, he wouldn't make that joke unless it is a done deal.

Nah imagine your Dallas's 4th line being told that you have to defend Gabriel Fuckin Landeskog and possibly Nathan Mackinnon for a few moments afterwards honestly tactically Landeskog on the 4th line is a power move. He may be coming back for the first time in 3 years but he's still an NHL captain for a reason now
I agree with Jesse Montano's take in that he'll probably start in a game by game rotation with Kiviranta. Bednar likes that Kelly/Drury/LOC line too much to break that up, plus adding Gabe to a line with Coyle and Colton is one seriously nasty line for anyone to play against.
To those in the chat from the premier, There is no feasible way for the Avs to clear enough cap space for Gabe to be activated during the regular season
I honestly think that Gabe would work into a three man 'rotation' with Kivi and Kelly. The beautiful thing is that Bedsy's job is hard because it's a tough call to take either of those guys out of the lineup, they've both contributed excellently to this team, but I can't see any other spots for Gabe to slide into, because you're not pulling Rosco or LOC, and it'd be a fool's gamble to have is first game action be in the top six (where I could only possibly see him taking Drou's spot). It's a tough question to answer, and that's why Jared Bednar gets paid the big bucks! What a great problem to have

4th Line RW and PP 2nd line because without injury we are a deep team. We have a great team for this years playoff run 💪
I totally agree start on the 4th line with limited minutes. If he is showing much more, then you might starting pushing him up.
I get they want the big pop as he takes the ice for the first time (So game 1 at home be it 1 or 3) but they'd be mad if they didn't send him to the Eagles as they play 2 games after the Avs play our last game of the season.

Guys, he is just skating, no full training. Even if, and that is a big if, he will be able to play, it will not be in the playoffs. Let’s see how he would handle full checks on his body, especially his knee. Still have very big doubts. I prefer healthy Kiviranta or Kelly over him at the moment.
COL could get Landy a few regular season games, but it would require sending Kivi's contract to the AHL, which is not the Avs' MO.
If you put Manson on LTIR today, that's $4.5M of savings. To activate Landy, COL could option Wood & Kivi thru waivers to the AHL. I doubt they'd care if a team claimed Wood, but maybe yes on Kivi. The chance of a claim is very small bc the player is no longer eligible to play in the NHL the rest of the 24-25 season, since its after the trade deadline.

3rd and 4th are playing so good right now you just can't break them up. The only thing I can come up with is some sort of rotation with 2/3/4, mainly 2, and wait for somebody to either get hurt or hit the skids. I really don't think he'll be playing like he used to, hopefully I'm wrong. But, if he shows up, doesn't produce, or even gets slightly hurt……he's gotta go. He's a big cap hit for someone who hasn't produced for 3 years, even at the reduced LTIR rate.

We are going to learn a lot about this team before the end of the season. Nearly every game is against a playoff team, or a team pushing for a wild card spot. I would love to se them dominate the remainder of the year, and really set the tone for the post season, but I also know that they really only need to play .500 to keep that 3rd spot in the Central.
I will say what ever seed, and whomever the opponent….I plan on being there for the first playoff game. Haven't had the heart to wear my Landy sweater for years, and it has been calling for about a month now

This speculation can go on and on. Realiity is there will be injuries. In 2022 SCP Kadri and Cogliano missed games and the depth of the Avs shined.

4th line feeds the first line….well put Kyle. It's like when people undervalue the importance of the 8 or 9 hole hitter in baseball.
If Gabe does indeed come back, it's important to set expectation low and allow him to find his legs after 3 years. The best way to do that is to start him at the face off, then move him to the 3rd line and limit his playing time game 1. Reassess after the game and keep expectations low and allow Gabe to ease into the game and gain confidence. So much of his return is mental so it's important for the fans to stay out of it with their hopes and wishes. Gabe needs to feel confident in his knee and his health so that he can go full bore, if he plays with anything like doubt, he'll wind up getting hurt again.
Gabe will slot in on the third line and Kivi just simply drops down. Kelly can be scratched all fine
Jesse has been posting some vids of Landy over the years, (LOL, "over the years") and this latest one has got us all talking. I think he is going to come back. I agree about how long it will last, but damn, this could be big! With a Cartlidge replacement, expectations are low, but wouldn't it be something if he could pull this off? In the playoffs to boot?
