1. I think they rely too much on goaltending. They dont provide very much offensive support for the goalies hence why they have an overwhlemingly amount of 1-goal victories and get blown out a fair amount in their losses too much like last years Capitals.

  2. Also, you've been one of the most reliable hockey channels I've watched over the past year and a half. Not as professional in your editing as some (hockey psychology for example) but I agree with most of your takes. You didn't have a poor take back in december… you had the same take every sens fan had… Now to be fair, I understood all of those injuries were hurting us, but I also didn't expect Merilainen to bail us out when ullmark was injured, nor Greig to step up as much as he has. I feel the loss of Norris, but I won't deny Cozens is a perfect fit down the middle in our top 6 and Zetterlund has been a player I've enjoyed watching on the sharks for the past two years. He's gonna break out at some point and make both of these deadline pick ups look like genius moves. It's been a long time coming, but dare I say the sens look like they could do some damage come playoff time? maybe a 2nd or 3rd round exit?

  3. I think they’re a fraud team largely. Tkachuk holds them together and if for some reason they do move him even in a talent for talent trade, they’ll become buffalo. The new toughness they advertise is reliant on him bc he’s genuinely that kind of player. They’re also only tough when they’re winning and ullmark is a crutch for them. Play a good team in playoffs and they could get crushed or ullmark stands on his head.

  4. To me the Senators turning point came on Dec 8th when they beat Anaheim (thereafter going on a 6 game winning streak). It was the first time I saw the team go back to playing their solid defensive system in spite having lost the previous game (to NYI 4-2). The loss was one where the Sens dominated NYI but NYI got an opportunistic goal with Palmieri scoring the winning goal in the 3rd.

Traditionally, for the previous 7 years, whenever the Sens would lose a close hard fought game (that they felt they should win), they would mentally fall apart and lose several more games in a row thereafter. This was the first I saw them play their system vigorously in the game following, going back to what would make them successful for the rest of the season.

  5. They've always been a good team, but missing the playoffs was that one thing, their poor goal tending play. Now, the best trade Ottowa made was trading for Ullmark! They finally have a goalie!

  6. Timmy has really stepped up this year. I feel very confident when Timmy is on the ice that there won’t be a ton of defensive lapses. This guy legit never runs outta gas either
