Le 25 septembre 2024, la campagne 24-25 de LA Kings a frappé un problème majeur avant même de commencer. Lors d’un match de pré-saison contre les Golden Knights de Vegas, Drew Doughty s’est cassé la cheville d’un coup par Tanner Pearson dans les planches de T-Mobile Arena. Le bâtiment d’excitation pour la saison à venir s’est arrêté carré car Doughty a été aidé à laouture, avec la plupart connaissant immédiatement la gravité de la blessure. Pendant des mois de réadaptation exténuante, douloureuse mais déterminée, Doughty est retourné à la glace et dans l’alignement en janvier. Ses débuts de la saison contre le champion en titre de la Coupe Stanley, Florida Panthers, sont venus avant la pause des 4 nations, où Doughty remporterait l’or avec Team Canada. Il est maintenant fermement de retour dans la programmation, gérant la douleur et la récupération, mais a fait son impact habituel alors que l’équipe se prépare pour une autre course en séries éliminatoires. Two things. We needed Drews comment on him getting burned vs Kempe in Sweden game. @ 7:00 Was that Muzzin!!!!!??? As of 23-24 he works for Toronto Maple Loafs as a scout.

Drew – like any aging hockey player – has lost a step. We know this. What we need from him, as he is able, is leadership. Leadership in hitting and making smart plays, and leadership on offense…assists and goals. Where I think he's done well is with the newer, younger defensemen as a mentor. He's played 19 games and is a +1. More hits and more points, please.
