I hope not. His Dump And Chase style of hockey just isn’t working at all
Hope not
My personal opinion is Tocchet is suited to be an Assistant Coach and not a Head Coach. And the Canucks management, especially Allvin is sooo stubborn and blinded to certain things (like insisting Petterson is elite – saying it at every chance you get won't will it into being) and truly believing Tocchet is the only coach available that can rescue the Canucks from their perpetual mushy-middle standing is just ignorant to the facts. So he won the Jack Adams ? Big deal. That has NO bearing on this year (ask Jim Montgomery who won it 2 years ago and was kicked to the curb a season+ later). It's a nice to have but has no bearing on suitability for a specific team and especially if that team has an iffy roster like the Canucks currently do.
why would Tocchet want to coach one of the worst teams in the league, just cause he used to play there makes no sense at all!!! Adam has had the wrong take from the start
I think Canucks move on from him either way. They brought in Mahlhotra for a reason.
The team is a clear cultural mess. I think that's why players aren't interested right now.
The question that forms the title of this video is an interesting one with just how much of a dumpster fire the Canucks have this season been.
Hopefully
If Rick tochett resigns he does not get paid.
What your buddy probably meant is if he leaves and resigns, and he joins another team, he’s getting a new contract from that team, so he’s still getting paid.
There is no contract ever that would pay someone for resigning, does not even make any sense honestly .
Sorry guys, I’m not trying to be a downer or anything .
Canucks fan here. If Tocchet goes, the only 2 options I'm interested in are Malhotra and Bieksa. Bieksa is an extremely good communicator, has coaching experience, is a former canuck (and a good one), his son just signed in the BCHL in the Vancouver area, and he's always been a notoriously hard worker (he'll have high expectations of work ethic). I don't want to see another coach from the old coaching carousel (maybe give AV one more stint lol)
the real question is does tochett even deserve an extension. as good as the team was last year its been bad this year. cant blame him for injuries but he has to take some of the heat for pettey regression and miller quitting on the team.
If you’re looking for a team that avg 15 shots a game & a .100 powerplay, Tocchet is your man.
As someone who lives near the situation he’s done in Vancouver to much Aqualinis/Drama
Doesnt matter what coach. It is the players. 4 coaches in 4 years? Yea ok
He doesn’t get paid if he quits. Thats voluntary termination.
Rick Tocchet is the best thing that happened to Vancouver, he brought character & culture to this team. Last year's run was not a fluke it was mainly his influence. Too many "experts" online spewing "opinions" without knowing the history and cultural challenges of the Vancouver market.
Tocchet want out. He's not a moron and realizes the state of the roster is in shambles. Most Canucks fans are delusional. Like they were celebrating the arrival of Chytle. And the rest of the league was saying wtf are the Canucks doing…. Lol
I think the Canucks management is going to get a massive shot in the arm this offseason.
I expect Tocchet to walk
Boeser to walk
Suter to walk
And there is still all the "will they won't they" regarding trades with key players (Petty/Demko)
The Canucks needed a full rebuild back when Trevor Linden was pushing for it
Hi Steve & friends, all you podcasters are out to lunch. Tocc wouldn’t have signed that contract if he was prepared to honour it. Option should be expected unless you are signing a team friendly deal. Fact, Tocc is having a very large down year and it would behoove him to push this discussion down the road a year allowing himself to prove it was just that Miller time. Also, Tocc would honour anything he put his name on. Think of who you’re trying to suggest he is. You have no idea who he is.
Canucks became worst after trading Miller
