On one hand i suppose it was thrilling for our Fans to see History made, and the Islander victory was sweet!….But seeing Ovechkin score and slide on our Home ice made me yak!……Sorry, Islander Fan from the start.
Vancouver fans can relate because Gretzky broke Howe's goal scoring record against goalie Kirk McLean and we've seen that video time and again for the last 31 years!
THE I KNEW OVI WOULD SCORE RECORD G VS. ISLES IN FODDER GAME. Seemed like a needless goal for show just to suit bettman's huge ego and tnt deal. ovi should have been scoring that record g at home in front of cap fans instead of at isles and in front of many casual fans on tnt just to beat gretz record by one game. Too bad ovi didn't break the g record against hawks at home on fri. Could have sealed the game with an e n g but didn't want record g to be empty netter. I wouldn't want a record that way as well. Caps could have kept ovi out of line up for some rest with playoff spot wrapped up but then bettman would have complained about tnt covering the game and we all know all bettman gives shit about is eyeballs on the tv. Oh well its history now. I just wonder how many g's 22 would have scored with a full 20+ like ovi career? And tommy soderstrom gave up mario's 500th g mid '90's. Poor 30 is now in the forever highlight. Scored not surprisingly on weak isle pk.
Back to isles who won the too little too late who gives a fk lottery position killer back to back wins over weekend. Especially with wings winning back to back and game with habs next. Will probably go 5-1 after the fact to assure around 14th in draft order. Undefining w from an undefining team.

Good 🌄, Gil. How are you? Before I begin, let me just say CONGRATULATIONS TO ALEXANDER OVECHKIN BREAKS WAYNE GRETZKY'S RECORD BY SCORING HIS 895th Goal; however, the Islanders did win 4-1. The Islanders and their fans showed him some ❤. Wayne Gretzky showed some class by mentioning Al Arbour, Bill Torrey, and he did spend some ⏲️ with Butch Goring and Bryan Trottier. I remember ⌚️ that game when Hank Aaron broke Babe Ruth's record. Ovechkin is 39 years old, Gretzky was only 28 when he set the record. Friday 🌙 win against MN was solid. They did a fine job in their own end. Hero in Friday 🌙 game, Ilya Sorokin. 🐐, NOBODY, something I never thought I'd say. Yesterday's game was solid, too. Hero, Marc Gatcomb for scoring 2 goals, Ilya Sorokin in spite of giving up Ovechkin's goal. 🐐 in a good way, Alexander Ovechkin. Despite the wins this weekend, the Islanders chances are still slim when it comes to the playoffs. HAPPY 🎂 CLARK "JETHRO " GILLIES 1954-2022. He was a 1st round pick in 1974, 1/2 of a great 1 2 punch that Bill Torrey made. nicknamed after the Max Baer after The Beverly Hillbillies. He scored a hat trick in a 6-4 win against Vancouver. He gave back to Long Island after he called it quits, he was the 1st Islander to score on a penalty shot in a win against Washington. Although he doesn't like to be labeled as an enforcer, he will fight if it's a must. Case in point, Game 5 of the 1975 Semester against the Flyers at the Spectrum, his most famous fight was against Dave Schultz, who after that fight, came to respect him, becsuse he came to the NHL to play 🏒, and they went on to become good friends. Gretz made it clear how much the Coliseum stands in Islander history. He’s a class act. UBS is a nice arena in the wrong place. It should be in Uniondale. UBS has no history. It’s going to be awhile before it has any. Ovechkin gave it some. Great for that.

Good morning team! Congrats to Ovechkin! Done classy all around. What makes hockey the greatest sport out of all sports? The sportsmanship. Loved seeing the Islander players tapping the ice for Ovi. Ultimate respect. On top of that, we absolutely deserved that win. Capitals trying to capture the President's trophy, and we actually out played them. If that's what we are capable of doing, then why not play that way every game? Maybe next season. It would be great if both Sorokin and Hogberg get at least 25 wins each next season. Definitely make the playoffs then, huh? Our hopes still alive, but the door is closing quickly. We can only catch the Rangers, Wings, Devils, and Canadiens. Unfortunately, New Jersey and Montreal are the only team still in the playoffs. They both need to hit their worse losing streak of the season. The devils would need a total collapse. Have never been an Ovi fan so I had hoped he would get blanked. It was certainly telling about the season seeing the Isles fans outnumbered in their own barn by visiting Caps fans. We'll take the 4 points from the weekend and once again the team played like it mattered after dropping the previous 6.
It was a cool moment to see. Unfortunate it had to happen at Ubs, but the lack of effort after the goal from the caps really helped us. Still a slither of hope for the playoffs, but i think its Montreal's to lose at this point
