Larry is providing the most pro-management, anti-player take possible here. Mika Zibanejad and Chris Kreider have never in their careers been considered high maintenance or selfish. They didn't get upset because their friends were moved. They play for two of the biggest assholes in pro sports – Dolan and Drury – and eventually they got sick of it.
In retrospect, moving Trouba and Goodrow were ultimately mistakes that caused more problems than they solved, because Drury lacks the judgment and patience to direct the cost savings toward improving the roster. Instead he stockpiled multiple AHL-caliber defensemen.
Kreider didn't just "hear his name in a trade rumor", Larry. No – Drury went out of his way to target Kreider personally. First by sending that league-wide memo to GMs saying he wanted Kreider gone, and then again when they healthy scratched him against the Devils. This was all just a few months after his hat trick in game 6 vs Carolina saved their ass and got them to the ECF. What did Kreider do to warrant Drury treating hm like such shit? I don't get it, but I get his reaction.
I cant deal with another season with Drury and Laviolette. I want our young players to play and for us to stop burning draft picks.
What happened to the Lightning after their captain Stamkos left last summer(after unsuccessful contract negociation) and,in 2022, after they traded Ryan McDonagh to Nashville? Did they cry and stopped playing? No, they kept winning.
So basically it’s Trouba’s fault? 👍
I think Larry wants to make sure he doesn't bite the hand that feeds. I'm not sure he's ever criticized the front office. Not Sather, not JD and Gorton, and not Drury.
Drurys biggest screw up was not trading for Guentzel last year!
The downfall started with Dave Ramsey getting fired. That was a symptom of the culture change Drury was installing over the objections of all employees. That included the players. This offseason was just the final straw because the team leaders approached Drury and tried to force him to stop the changes, his response was to rid the team of those leaders, Goodrow, Trouba, Krreider, Lindgren (sort of).
The moves to get rid of these players who dared to challenge Drury, were not hockey moves. Not one move improved the team, they were purely power plays and spite. Brooks of course knows this but he never discusses it. I have to go to NHL sources outside of the Post to find the real story. I don't see how this team moves forward with Drury still at the helm.

Can’t someone with experience talk to each player privately to try to uncover the cause of their malaise/poor play. We all know they are a skilled team but after last year it was so weird to watch them seem so depressed and apathetic.

They had a coach that would lean into the younger players. The team was getting better each year under David Quinn. Dolan fired him and Gorton.
As soon as Drury is fired, hopefully soon, Larry will be singing a totally different tune. Players have to play, but GM/Coach have to assrmble the right squad & have them ready to play. Both failed misreably. Larry says Igor, Drurys big signing, was "magical, with no D in front of him". If there was nothing blocking his view, how come he gave up so many goals on long shots? Magical?, more like avg.
I don't particularly care for Brooks but he nailed it. The season was doomed from the start.
Get rid of Fox. He's fucked. Plays like his skates are full of piss and shit. Looks up at the ceiling way too much.
I feel bad for all Sam Rosen fans and there are many across the US and Canada…..it would have been nice to hear him for his final playoff game calls…..too soon for the Rangers Season to end….another New York Hall Of Fame announcer retires….Congratulations Mr Rosen…
