  1. I noticed that this year a lot of players are intentionally trying to hurt players and the league is doing nothing about it. Fighting is one thing but trying to intentionally harm someone is a whole different thing.

  2. It all starts with youth hockey and not teaching these kids how to body check. It is getting worse with these new generations. No more hip checks.

  3. These "the league is soft now" guys in this comment section are the prototypical casual fan that have never laced a pair of skates in their lives, never stepped on ice in a uniform before… but call the players that DO "soft" just because concussions are an ACTUAL thing nowadays that we try to cut down on. Reminds me of the old UFC dudes that went to fights bare chested and wrote "just bleed" on themselves. All they want to see is as many fights and injuries to players as possible. But yeah "Pelech is a whiner, soft" for wanting to keep down on the concussions from players DELIBERATELY targeting his dome. I wonder if you manly men are self aware enough to realize how dumb you sound when you say the stuff you do.

  4. Cotter shifts his weight and goes out of his way to make contact. On top of that, he makes 0 attempt to avoid the head. In a sane world this is 5 games minimum, but knowing the NHL he'll likely just get a fine and a stern finger wag

  5. Pelech is such a dildo. Very few things make me happier than bad things happening to the Islanders

  6. If a fine and suspension doesn't happen from this, the NHL "safety" squad should be fired.

  7. Any other team jumps Cotter. Not the soft Islanders. Doormats once again. And Pelech is 6-3 not 6-5

  8. And nobody went after Cotter! Islanders lack so much, but one of their primary needs is an old time hockey goon.

  9. Yeesh… he kind of “winged” it a little through that hit. No one wants to hear an apology (even if sincere), when your face is gushing still, bubba.🩸😆

  10. I don’t have a problem with the call. If you make head contact like that, expect the match penalty. It doesn’t matter if you didn’t nt intend to. Cotter tried to apologize but Pelech wasn’t having it.

I wasn’t sold that this was a deliberate attempt to injure though.

The dman is in a vulnerable position as he shoots in the puck , and his opponent simply continues with his line until contact occurs. People might say he didn’t make enough effort to avoid the contact , and maybe one could make a case for that.

But, I have seen so many instances when two players are coming together, and one guy decides not to initiate a hit but the other guy surprises his opponent by initiating a hit. It’s always the guy who doesn’t prepare for the hit that can really get clobbered. Whether it’s a reverse hit, or just a player caught reaching , it doesn’t take long to learn the lesson. Always protect yourself first.

As a player, I would rather take my chances that my opponent gets hurt because he left himself in too vulnerable a position, than try to let up or evade at the last second and get KOed. I bet anyone who has played serious hockey will know exactly what that’s like.

  11. сам виноват, будь внимательнее. просто Коттер не успел на скорости убрать плечо
