The Stars have fallin' and can't get up.
I’m not sure wtf is happening. Or has happened. But I don’t like it. This isn’t us. This isn’t Stars hockey. We cannot play like this and hope to succeed. Yeah we’re down some guys, but it’s next man up mentality. We shouldn’t miss a beat with the guys we have. I’m not sure what else to say… I’ve said the same things over and over. Surely they feel the same way? Don’t they? The Avs are watching this and laughing at us. Why do we keep enabling our haters to be justified in their hatred of us? We give the enemy ammo. I just don’t get it. I’m Stars til I die. Which is why I’m here. But damn… I know we are better than this. Way better. We have too much talent. Even with guys out of the lineup. I just don’t know what happened. We were doing so good, then an instant downhill slide. I’m so confused right now.
What has recently happened, you ask? The Stars mortgaged their future by signing Rantenen to a 96m, 8-year contract, and it has yielded 5 goals (2 empty netters over roughly 20 games) since joining the Stars. Rantenen does not fit well into your system, period! Duchene and Hintz are not scoring, and this is why I said, you shut down Duchene, Hintz, and Johnston. The Stars are average. The defense is average at best and both goaltenders have been in meltdown mode ever since giving up 3 goals in a minute to the Canucks. Rantenen needs a MacKinnon caliber type player to feed off of. Deboer rolls 4 lines and sticks to that system. Rantenen has 45 seconds to try and do something before the next line comes on and that isn't enough time for him to do anything. Finally, the Stars are telegraphing their plays. Detroit figured it out and shut them down 2/3rd periods last night.
For the first time ever, I’m not even excited about the playoffs. I already know what the outcome is gonna be.
Its sad to think that despite the seeding and the year both teams have had, if the Stars lose to the Avs in the first round, it will not be seen as an upset by anyone.
I think we can give this game to Detroit. There was no surprise that they were going to score a ton on us with our top 2 defensemen (at this time of course) out resting and and 1 of them being our best PK player. Our top guys should also be resting too. Lets just get ready for Colorado, clear our heads. The best part about rock bottom, theres only one way to go.

Avalanche fan here. The year the Avs won the cup, they learned that as the regular season closes, it is more important to rest and heal, than to win the last few games. They now do that when their playoff spot is set. As a result, Mack took himself out of the running for the Art Ross, and possibly the Hart this year. Makar could have kept playing and potentially gotten to 100 points as a defenseman. but he rested. Maybe the Stars this year have learned that lesson and are resting/healing, and not particularly caring about wins the last games??
I absolutely feel your pain Joey. I'm 100% on board with your take here. For me this absolutely should be the nail in the coffin for DeBore. Pete has clearly lost this team. This has been a signature collapse by his teams throughout his career. Under NO circumstances should they be this pathetically inept. This is truly unprecedented embarrassment regardless of who is out of the line up. I suspect they'll be eliminated in 4 and Peter will be fired immediately and rightfully so.
The defense is miserable, and Oettinger seems deflated after the first goal gets past him. I definitely feel for him, he’s got no trust in the guys in front of him. Uncanny how it’s always a 3rd period onslaught by the opposing team.

I’m just tired of hearing the same thing episode after episode. The Stars are in the playoffs, we have at least 4 more games of play after the regular season. How about you do a breakdown of the impending series? If the Stars win, what will it take? If they lose, what will be the main reasons? Put a bit more thought into this then, “Stars bad” or else; what’s the point of me even watching this show??
If the Locked on Mavs guys can continue to do their jobs professionally after the Luka trade, continue to dissect games and provide analysis, then you can certainly suck it up and do yours as well.

It has absolutely nothing to do with rest. We have 2 dmen that can play in a top 4 role, 3 if Miro comes back. You see what happens when they are out. The rest of our Dmen are a GD liability and we are gonna get wiped out by Colorado. We get lucky and win 1 game but I bet the series will be over in 5. Until GMJN goes out and actively tries to improve our blueline and stops getting old, broken down, let go, washed dmen from other teams it will not matter who the coach is or how many good forwards he grabs. DEFENSE WINS CHAMPIONSHIPS !!!

Almost every team goes through slumps. Obviously you least want it at the end of the season. As an Avs fan I still think quite highly of your team, and perhaps the playoffs will prove a hard reset for the Stars. Could be a great series. All good sportsmanship from this Coloradan, Dallas faithful.
