I knew it was a goal watching it live. Seemed like an obvious puck stuck in the mesh, especially when there was no loose puck on the ice after the shot. Refs are asleep half the time.
I knew it was in too, live, then when they didn't get the puck out of the net I thought I was wrong and the puck had gone over the glass ! I guess that is what the 4 officials thought too LOL. 4 . And head office. At 4k resolution. Collectively, that's embarassing. It was clealy in on the original play!
The whole situation was even stranger than VC scoring 3 times in a minute against the Stars ! Add to it the Demidov show, the euphoric fans, and ultimate non decision on the playoffs ….a classic sporting event !! And why there are no sure things when you bet on sports. I'm sorry for the Habs, if they don't make it they need to reflect on why they underperformed in many of their recent games. Chicago could have had 5 goals last night, Montembault saved their asses over and over.
yes it was in but according to the rule book once Laine shot they can not go back so the goal should have been nullified, the on ice officals screwed it up but the rules clearly state that it can not count… what is the sense of a rule book if they ignore the rule as it is laid out
Habs fan here , but a goal is a goal , so disappointing that no one helped Demidov win the game , he might be disappointed that he signed with Montreal , with the exception of Demidov , the rest of the team was terrible . I'm done with Laine….trade the lazy ass beoccchhh…
So the only skater on the ice shoots the puck directly into the net, and he doesn’t notice, the officials don’t notice, the crowd doesn’t notice, the goalie doesn’t notice, the broadcasters don’t notice, that it went in? Did everyone collectively go blind or think the puck just stopped existing?
The Montreal player took a shot before they realized that Chicago scored. in the rules, the goal should not count. What's wrong with this picture? 👎 In the least, the NHL should own up to it.
Strange that a goal was overturned even though another 'play' had occurred. Usually you cannot challenge (if that's what happened here) once another play has been initiated. It's obvious they got it correct, but the timing seems strange
Inexcusable. The officials most important responsibility is to determine whether a goal has been scored, or not. They missed it. Not sure how, but they did.
