전반적인 경기는 50대 50이었는데, 몬트리얼 공격력이 약간 아쉽고 톰슨의 수퍼 세이브가 큰 역할 했다. 양 팀이 큰 차이가 안 느껴지므로 최종 승부는 아직 알 수 없다. 다만 워싱턴은 정규시즌의 엄청난 성적 대비 플레이오프 경기력이 기대 이하이고 파이널까지 진출할 전력으로 보기는 어렵다. 스탠리컵 파이널은 아마도 위니펙 vs 플로리다가 될거 같다.
