Lack of talent and poor use of talent in the first half. And in order to win, they had to play at 110% which they could do for stretches, then burn out. That explains the roller-coaster. They are simply not able to win enough, playing at 90%.

Horrible pro scouting was the main issue for the last few years. Good drafts. Terrible free agent signings and trades.

If Mrazek and Talbot is our tandem next season, our playoff drought probably reaches a decade
Traded or gave away too many goals prior to the season. Kept a bad Coach and equally bad GM way beyond their expiration dates, and whoever was responsible for the PK.
If they sign a legit cat like top 6 player, keep Kane , and just get some good role players and I think they will not on make the playoffs but be a possible real issue for many team , then they can go on the year after next and really add some pieces
And by then any player drafted high should have had the time to work them selfs into a spot – then the flip side of all this is new coach a whole year I don’t think they miss the playoffs – it took us 2 7 game win steaks to just get back into into it had a bad march again and that’s all she wrote – Frustrating part for me is there was 10-15 games we should have had wins or at a min a point if they wings were up 3/2 or tied 2/2 – get within the last 2 mins of game and something dumb happens bam whole sale lost or a missed point – amen lol
Should have fired uncle fester coach after last season was yzerman's first mistake.
And having no scoring depth outside of top 4 scorers, lousy d play, no physicality, and iffy goaltending doomed wings this past season. Now wings are stuck with too many old useless bums including too many um'ers/home state guys. And holl sucks. Get some better bottom pairing d men. And yzerman's job is to make wings winners, not g r griffins.
Larkin month long goal drought and disappeared after 4 nations. Terrible bottom 3 defense. Tarasenko sucks. Terrible pro scouts
Yzerman brought in bad players, yes, but were they bad before ? No. However, these players are not performing. As an example, Ras is a solid depth player in Detroit, am I sure he plays like that everywhere? Honestly, no.
If yzerman had known that many players were performing below expectations, he certainly wouldn't have brought them in.
They should have won 3 games and they would have if they hadn't played so often unfocused… I understand the negative attitude of many, but a year with Todd should show otherwise. However, Yzerman only has this year left. If any players come in the summer again that nobody knows or nobody else wants, he should go, even if his drafts are good.

Pro scouting comparison: Langdon 1 year: Beasley, Schroeder, Harris. Yzerman 6 years: Holl, Chariot, Compher, Petry, Mrazek, Copp, Tarasenko, Gufstaffson…someone needs to take a long look in the mirror.

This team didn't make the playoffs because they fell apart in March. You can't blame that on Yzerman or Lalonde. Excuses, excuses. The coach, free agency, the trade deadline, 4 Nations break, etc. etc. How about guys like Larkin rise to the occasion instead of falling apart.
We need to fire every single fucking one of our pro scouts. They are terrible at their jobs…..if we can steal St.Louis pro scouts
