"Are the Blues just THAT good… or have the Jets completely fallen apart mentally? 😱💥 Blues fans, Jets fans — sound off below! Who’s to blame for Winnipeg's collapse?! 👇🔥 #NHLPlayoffs #BluesHockey #JetsCollapse"
Go Blues! The "Junk Yard Dogs" of the NHL are coming to win in Winnipeg. It helps that Binner has been good in this series.
Lifetime Blues fan here. This jets core doesn't seem to have the mental resilience and I'm not sure how you fix that. Can it be fixed? How much adversity have the top guys really faced?
Blues fan here. As much as what happened past two games, am SUPER nervous about next game in Winnipeg. Jets will be fired up and have their stuff together. This next game WILL NOT be a blow out I'm thinking. Thinking this will be a 7 game series. May the best team win!
Blues fan here, I've said at the beginning of this series that Helle and Connor shows up, Blues are losing this series. They showed up in the first 2 games. Their best player and their star goalie need to show up. Connor needs to figure out ways to get those goals/assists past Binnington and the Jets defense need to start helping Helle.
It's great to see a Jets fan that understands how the game is played. I think that the Jets have lost the edge and perhaps underestimated it's opponent. I don't think the Blues are as good as they are playing, but you are right that they are built for the playoffs. I would have betted against them reaching the playoffs this year had they not gone on their 13 game winning streak. This team has found a way to mentally and physically pull it together and challenge any team standing in their way. Yes they can be beat as they were in the first two games. But this team keeps chipping away and eventually gets back into the game and series. Conner is an excellent goalie. Any team would jump at the opportunity of having a tender of his caliber. He needs to settle his team down and make a couple of big saves to bring back their confidence. It's going 7 games, but truthfully, I'll just tip my hat and call it a good series as the Jets move on to the next round. No team wanted St. Louis in the first round because they knew afterwards that they were in a series. Best of Luck Jets and if we happen to move on, we will have known either way we beat the best in the league.
Thank you !!!!!!! GO JETS GO !!!!!!
Great video. I'm happy that you are objectively fair with the current series. St Louis native and unapologetically bleed Blue, but you are a smart hockey guy. I always say winning the president's trophy is a death sentence lol. Keep up the great work and a subscription is happening!
Only thing I will add: Jets are losing so many battles in front of both nets. St Louis players are standing in and give /take punishment as needed. Against a great goalie that's a requirement.
In Jets Defense zone, gaps are so brutal. Those points have all the time in the world.
As you said it's compete level. Blues are skating through even if "they are slower". Jets need to stop losing their checks as well. And then Jets need to stop looking skyward on every unlucky bounce and look at that thin white mesh behind Binnington that's the space they need to guide the puck to.
We knew this was going to be the toughest series in the entire round 1. Definitely the most entertaining series I’ve watch so far.
You mean play defense first.
Skate to open areas with and without the puck.
Don’t turn it over.
HelleBuyck is the modern day Mike Smith. Insane numbers, but let’s in softies when it matters!
Who else came here from the pre-playoff ranking video? ☠️
Blues fan here. Your breakdown of Hellebuyck is fascinating, and it highlights how he and Binnington are seemingly exact opposite goaltenders. I mean, tehre's a very simple narrative of "Binnington puts up bad regular season numbers, but terrific playoff performances and vice versa for Hellebuyck." But just the technique. Hellebuyck stays deep in the crease, as you said. Binnington, on the other hand, is one of the most active goalies on developing plays. He comes way out of the net. Top of the crease, sometimes out of the crease, to cut down initial angles. Hellebuyck relies on his athleticism to play so deep. Binnington relies on his anticipation to cover extreme angles.
I feel like, if you're a goalie fan, never mind a Blues/Jets fan, this is such a treat to watch. Because they're such diametrically opposite styles of goalie. And we obviously know both are elite level. So watching how they play, how the results come in, how teams counter them, it's revealing.
Good video my guy 🙂
Go Blues. 💯%
Great analysis as usual. I always learn stuff here. I think the jets can turn things around. They just need to make adjustments as you say. If the confidence is still there they can win. Theyre the better team but the better team doesnt always win!
Excellent break down and perspective. Appreciate the content as we try to fill the space in between games.
Let’s Go Blues!
Blues fan here. You're not insulting St. Louis to say that the Jets are a faster skating team. We know this.
But what the Blues don't have in speed or raw talent they make up for in tenacity and sheer hard work.
Wow this comment section is refreshing compared to Twitter lol. It's an awesome series, I'm a Jets fan, Blues are in control at the moment for sure and are playing amazing, looking forward to a banger of a game on Wednesday!
Bang on pal. We will see if they are frauds Game 5.
Blues fan here, before Game 1 I talked with some friends and we were all pretty nervous about playing the Jets in Round 1. Then after Game 2, I was pretty sure we were washed. I’m definitely feeling better now, but I know that Winnipeg’s a tough road game. Definitely excited to see where it goes!
Perfect breakdown of the game and series. This is exactly how it should be done. Keep up the good work. LGB
Great commentary! Nice level headed analysis! I'm a Blues fan but you are great at breaking down the basics!
Jobu strikes again!
Winnipeg fans seem to be their worst enemy.
Blues fan here…HUGE respect for this analysis that just earned you a new subscriber! Keep ‘em coming! #LetsGoBlues!!!
The way to beat the blues is extremely simple.
Great insights on how to play with Hellabucks style, take away the point 👉
LGB'S
I’ll never stop being a Jets fan. But I don’t think we win this series now. Like you said – blues have all the momentum and are built for playoffs.
Blues don't have the team speed the Jets have. But Blues defense has done a good job getting in the offensive play. Go Blues!!
Blues in 6. Binnington won't allow the jets back in
Great breakdown and as a Blues fan I appreciate the even handed commentary.
Rough one for the Jets. First time in a long time that I've seen all four series in the west tied at 2.
Love your breakdowns! I'm just chilling right now after watching the Stars dominate in game 5! The West is going to be a bloodbath.
So I take it u don't know, how to win a playoff game.Sorry it's all about adjustments, and smart coaching, heavy tape room, and home ice advantage. Its time to get off ur old school ways
Very insightful breakdown of the game. I love it brother. LGB!!!
Appreciate your takes as a Jets fan who never doubts her team and watches until the last second. I disagree with some of your points but agree 1000% that we need to stay out of the box. Go Jets, win game 5.
Blues fan here. Came here to get my tires pumped but was absolutely floored by the insightful analysis and your eye for the game. Leaving as a subscriber.
I like your content man. I know you're biased for the Jets but that's cool how you are. But this is what St Louis is even with the Cardinals we seem to just just put the gas pedal down to the floor when it comes to the times like this
I'm a huge blues fan… So have a bias.. I like how you explain everything
Blues fan here. Nothing but respect to the Winnipeg fans! The white out looks INSANE on the tv. I can only imagine what it's like in person. Good luck to you you all!
Long time St Louis Blues fan here and I agree with almost everything you said except I think Roman Turek is a better example of great regular season numbers and collapsing in the playoffs. The Blues with Turek were great during the regular season even winning the presidents cup just to watch him fall apart in the playoffs
author of THE DEATH TAX and diehard Blues fan sez: As a lover of hockey who strives to be objective, not buy into all the hype I'm hearing lately about my Blues, I appreciate your attempts to be objective as well. My objectivity tells me, "In spite of the last two games, they are ONLY two games, and the Jets still enjoy home ice advantage; it remains to be seen if they blow it. Jets fans, your team is still in good shape, so don't overreact." I, for one, am expecting a VERY rough Game 5, and we need to bolster both the physicality and the transition game (too many dump-outs, both failed and attempted; too much running around) of our defense–Parayko, who can and isn't afraid to take a hit to CARRY the puck out, being the exception–and stop relying on Binnington to carry us to have a chance. Kudos to the Jets on what they've accomplished this season. Taking out a team of this caliber WILL NOT be easy.
After our first half, we’re just happy to be here and holding our own. It’s a long road to the cup. We watched Armstrong dismantle our 2019 team in short order. Fire Berube. Monty came and got our group fired up. Looking forward to game 5. You guys have a tough barn.
I like what you said you're from Winnipeg Jets are your team and you're not taking it off doesn't matter if the Jets win or lose your jets fan just like I'm a St Louis Blues fan never going to stop room for the Blues stop rooting for the Blues win or loose im going be a blues fan
I'm a Blues fan, but I respect you as a Jets fan and saying how it is. I am also not just a Blues fan, I'm a hockey fan who recognizes greatness, and the Jets have amazing players. It's going to be close.
Is Arniel just getting outcoached? Home ice yada yada, but it seems Jim Montgomery has made adjustments to lines and tactics that Arniel doesn't have answers for despite having a more talented team. Both of these teams have suspect defenses, but the blues have been clogging up the lanes in front of the Jet's crease much better than the Jets who seem to rely on seem passes instead of those ugly goals that get it done.
Measured. Level-headed. Dispassionate. Thorough. Honest.
Fantastic breakdown. A keen summation of the facts, the narratives, the past, the present, and the future. Good on ya bud.
