That’s just how the NHL operates! Trades are part of building a contender. Rutherford is the embodiment of a seasoned NHL executive. He knows exactly what he’s doing. The man’s seen it all. He shows up, tells it like it is, no sugar-coating, no dancing around with politically correct nonsense. He’s a legend, and honestly, a breath of fresh air in an era where sports transparency is rare.

Rutherford has a history of trading away players he acquires within the same season, so it is not too surprising that his pupil Allvin is doing the same. At the end of the day, if a deal to upgrade your team is there, a good manager would make that deal – the player involved not even having an opportunity to get accustomed to the team is not the biggest concern for the manager.
