I love this series. It helps me fall asleep in 2 minutes or less. Woke up and watched the Montreal game, Oilers game, and was wide awake. Still expect Carolina to win this. However I did pick the Devils to win for my nightmare bracket, so who knows.
When Nemec scored in OT tonight, I felt such a sense of relief. Felt like the elephant on my chest that was killing me got up.
I know we probably won’t win the series. But we needed tonight’s win.
All of the injuries. All of the bullshit we’re dealing with. The referees are BLATANTLY out to get NJ. I don’t care what excuse Shannon or anyone might give. The penalties that get called on NJ vs the penalties that DONT get called on Carolina is just disgusting. Just like the back to back games at the new year.
If we can carry this momentum into game 4. If we can get Luke and Dillon back, who knows. Maybe we make the series interesting. But tonight’s win satisfied me for the season. Our PP stunk tonight though. We could barely get into the zone. That needs to improve

NJ needs to SHOOT THE PUCK when on the PP. I was screaming at my tv tonight. They always try for fancy passes and it’s just not there with Carolina. We need to shoot from the point and look for rebounds/deflections/etc.
Dougie Hamilton used to be the best PP QB in the league. It’s criminal to have him out there and him not shoot or be setup for a one timer

When I was younger, even for people like my dad who are only tangentially interested, the Devils were a big deal in Jersey for sports fans. Glad that they didn’t get swept out of the playoffs.

As a Canes fan I was so happy to see power play production. I’m not as worried about the lack of 5v5 goal last night. Time to win Sunday.
Happy the Devs pulled that one out however, 0-10 on PP (with a SH goal against to boot) doesn’t spell much success in the playoffs much less in this round.
But one game at a time – it helps you believe they might be able they can move on. And that’s what it’s about. LGD!

I was there from start to finish. It was a real grind of a game. But that’s the playoffs for you.
The Jarvis-Aho-Jarvis-Aho-Jarvis goal was bananas. The Canes just didn't have that kind of burst for most of the game. They looked tired from the start. The older players on this team (Staal, Burns, Orlov and even Slavin) slow down visibly in these double and triple overtime games they always seem to be involved in during the playoffs. Most of the first OT they looked raggedy and by the start of the second OT half the team were dead on their feet.
Carolina played a not so good game and took the devils to 2OT at home. Not worried about this one. Game 4 bounce back and finish it in Raleigh game 5.
