After watching some of these playoff games I have no idea how the Sabres are trying to sell us on how close they are. We’d get smoked. Teams would pound Dahlin and wait for our defense and goaltending to self destruct. Offensively, we’d be unwilling or incapable of scoring the necessary dirty goals. We are drafting 7th for a reason. A lot of changes are needed, including almost completely rebuilding the defense and finding a starting goalie.

Also to add to the Bryson stuff: the fact Kevyn Adams said he likes having Bryson because he "is okay with being out of the lineup for extended periods of time" is the exact culture problem we have. I don't want guys who are okay with just being there and will jump in when they have to, I want guys who are fighting tooth and nail doing whatever they can to make someone else sit upstairs.
There are 6 RFA to resign on this current roster, if we resign them does that help us ? If we don't resign a couple, most likely we will get draft picks for them. A couple of trades need to happen to shake this team up. (throw in those draft picks ) Will a FA want to come here or will we just feed off the left overs again ?
I think the best place to trade Byram to is Vancouver. It’s been said recently that Quinn Hughes is not happy with the situation there and is hellbent on playing with his Brother.
Since it’s easier to trade one player than two, I’m pretty sure that it will be Quinn that forces a trade to New Jersey, so they’re going to need to replace him with a Top Pair Defenseman, and that would be Byram.
They’re also likely to lose Brock Boeser to Free Agency, which means they’ll need to replace a Right Winger and that would be Jack Quinn.
Which would give us a Byram and Quinn for Elias Pettersson.
We could always try for Jake DeBrusk if that would make more sense, but it would likely change up the deal quite a bit since DeBrusk just finished his 1st year or a 7 year deal.
I actually am surprised by Edmonton's sad games against LA. That game 1 last 3 minutes was wild. Seeing these playoffs, I know Buffalo would be exactly like Ottawa. They would get hammered by a team that are at another level, and hammered with hits and lack of response to some big or illegal hits (which happen all the time and don't usually get called).
Totally disagree on peterka. Still a bad defensive player. Don't need him gone, but there's no way I give out another long term deal to a guy who still needs work to become a good all around player
Stuart Skinner is a great example of showing people that real and true #1 goalies in 2025 don't just fall off of trees, and there are probably none realistically available this summer. You bring in people and hope they get hot or develop or better. Stolarz is on his 5th team. Logan Thompson is 28 and was signed by Vegas as a free agent off of an ECHL team 5 years ago. This is why if the Sabres traded UPL like everyone seems to want, they actually would get more than just a bag of pucks as people seem to think.
I won't even look at the Sabres until they get a top notch goaltender. UPL and Levi are not the answer.
No more long term contracts. What are we thinking after watching cozens and samuelsson fail to meet expectations. Give peterka a 3 year bridge comtract, keep his rfa rights and don't screw ourselves with another dead 7 or 8 year contract

We need D PERIOD! Sammy and Power are both big softies…Dahlin, Byram and maybe Bernard-Docker are all we have…Clifton, Bryson are not NHL caliber D and should never play another game for us…2 right handed shot D are needed…UPL would be a lot better had we upgraded our D….
