The Habs showed some inexperience but hey, they are rebuilding. They played their hearts out, but the skill set is still in favour of the Caps, and I agree, it was a legal hit. The good news is plenty. Again, they try their best. They work well with each other. They are building an awesome powerplay that will be around for a LONG time. The goalies will get better. And, how many games has Demidov played? 3-5 seasons worth? No, just 6 games! The kid is improving all aspects of his game at an incredible rate. The future is bright. Stanley Cup Champions in 2029!

Hated it at first, but after re- watching It looks like Carrier is not preparing himself for the hit at all. Wilson could have hit him much harder than that and he's lowering his shoulder at the last instant. Ovi on Evans is the real crime here.

Loved your breakdown of the game- TBH, I don’t who you are but I’m hearing a Newfie…or a Caper? I wish there was another view of the hit- I’m surprised there isn’t. The fact of the matter is this: If you enter a ring with a bull, you have to be aware of where he is at all times. And that goes for Wilson. 2 things Carrier could’ve done: 1)Put up the fence and risk a major or 2)Take the hit and STAY DOWN. Caps don’t score because the refs stop the play. Carrier was probably pulled because of concussion protocol anyway.

I’m an outsider and an Oilers fan, but I really like this channel and it has me caring about the habs. They are an exciting young team to watch. I agree with you, it was a hard hit, but I can’t see anything wrong with it. The Capitals deserved the win on that one. I would love to see Montreal do something to answer back. Even if they fall short this series, they are a team to watch out for in the near future for sure.

A Caps fan observation this is a classic match-up of older veterans with experiences against youngsters with speed and aglity. In theory, the #1 seed Caps should easily handle the #8 seed Habs, but this is not the case. Physical series wih games That could have gone either way truthfully, 5 – 2 only appears lopsided due to empty netters. Much respect to Montreal. Y'all have a promising future, but as a homer, I'm hoping my Caps completr the run to Lord Stanley's Cup to finish Ovechkin's record-breaking season. Caps up 3 games to 1, and I still feel a little uneasy but have faith in my boys.
Anyone who thinks Wilson is only a goon…disregards the 30+ goals…and dominance on the ice… Every team in the leagues would want Tom on their top line…it is a clear and simple fact.
Wilson ended the series with that hit. He also called out the hit in real time. Very few times do you see something in a playoff series and go 'yup, this one's over.' This hit is one of them.

I disagree that initial contact was the head but lets say it was. How are the refs supposed to catch that in real time? We have slow motion and still frames and its still not clear. So do you want the refs to stop the game after every hit and review it? Or do you want to iust take hitting out of hockey. Cause thats the only 2 options the Habs fans complaining have to solve this dilemma.

Anderson was smart not to jump Wilson. The puck was in the Caps zone at that point, he would have no idea Caps would score right after that. So why would he just give the Caps a free powerplay with the greatest goal scorer to be able to tie the game in the 3rd?
