Just a quick comment about the series – when asked 'who do you not want to see in the playoffs' when a team is asked, there is only one answer – the Edmonton Oilers. I know Kings fans are disappointed but who went to the finals last year? Who came back down 3 to 0? Who ran out of gas in game 7? Oilers wanted to do three things this year – 1. Make the playoffs 2. Be healthy 3. Be rested. They got numbers 1 and 3, and they are getting better at number 2 every day. Oilers know how to win. Remember, there are THREE seasons in the NHL, not one. Each season you start fresh. There's the regular season where you start 0 – 0 – 0 , then the second season, playoffs and yep – you are 0 – 0 to start that season. Then the finals – where again you start 0 – 0. My prediction was the Oilers lose in 5 to the Kings, OR they win the Cup. Looks like Cup time.
Your kings gave us a hell of a challenge i thought for sure you had us much respect to the kings
I feel bad for LA fans. The media really gave you all some false hope this year.
Stop being cheap. It's time to upgrade the talent.
You said after game was already played how come they loss 4 games
Oilers were much better team don’t tell me oilers won by luck 4 in row
The NHL needs to open an investigation immediately. It seems like an obvious conflict of interest for the Oilers to always play the Kings in the first round and own them at the same time.
3:58 you said that they need to run picard, and they did. But it didnt result in anything, not even a penalty 😂
Nearly 5 minutes in, and you still haven't mentioned one of the most crucial things Kings did in this game… namely, using more of their lineup, more often… Not rolling 4 lines per se, but not shortening their bench to the extant they did in previous games… Kings, to their credit, did this too…
STILL, 'TOO LITTLE TOO LATE'
Once Edmonton got Evander Kane back in their lineup… THEY WERE CLEARLY THE BETTER TEAM!… Too deep, too much secondary scoring, alongside arguably, the 2 best forwards in the world, for Kings to handle.
It is what it is…
xxx
PS: Does anyone have any insights vis a vis Ekholm's status? Is there any chance he suits up for Oilers vs Vegas?
PEACE OUT
If we define courage as, 'grace under pressure'… Kings' coach Jim H was the antithesis of this with the press… His decision making likewise left much to be desired…
To use a gunfighter metaphor, Jim H 'blinked first'…
Time to give this (Cowardly pretender?) his 'pink slip'
Back to the minor leagues boyo… Don't let the door hit your butt on the way out…
'Don't go away mad, Kemosabey… JUST GO AWAY!
1 reason above all. Soft leadership.
Umm, Nick refused the tv gig, that's how we got Faust. And, he was forced into the TV gig as his radio job was killed off. I think that is why he is retiring. He didn't want it.
No series wins since winning the 2014 Stanley Cup?! That’s crazy.
LA had no chance the oilers beat you two games that they only showed up for one period , when the oilers play 60 mins no team has a chance
If the goalie situation had been reversed the oilers would have crushed the kings
Kings are deeper than before but not deeper than the Oilers in my opinion. Granted, it was an open question who would show up for them given the injuries and mediocre play in the season, BUT, guys like Janmark, Brown and Henrique, although not big names, were beasts in the playoffs last year. Perry is less hurt than last year and is playing like Perry, and Podkolzin has been hitting and freeing pucks like bastard all year. Frederick looks like a useful player and J. Skinner's numbers are quite good despite being shunned by the coach. Their middle tier of players after McDrai are not bad as well: Hyman, Kane, Nuge.
Super disappointing playoff run (again). But I'm going to focus on something different (as Eddie did at 22:20) We, as fans, have been incredibly lucky to have Nick Nickson, Jim Fox and Bob Miller as broadcasters. If you watch any other broadcast (including the awful ESPN broadcasts), you can appreciate the hockey acumen and objectivity that we get from those guys. Yes, Fox absolutely cheers for the Kings, but he is objective in his analysis and calls out the good and bad equally.
As far as Nick, he has not only been the voice on the radio, he is also the voice we hear in the concourse at the game. A heartfelt thanks to each of those guys for making our experience a great one.
Thank you too, Eddie, for the great podcast. I had to go on some Oilers podcasts immediately after the games because there is no post-game show for Kings fans to vent/celebrate/bitch (Oilersnation is a fun post-game site) and I wish we had something like that in the immediate aftermath of a game (like Kings Talk on the radio with Nickson). But the Locked on Kings podcast is awesome and I am definitely an "Every Day-er".
Not sure whats worse. 4 game to 1 like lats year or oilers in 6 when u had home ice.
Lets go Oilers!
It sucks we havent won a cup yet with mcdavid but i got to say. Its great making your old Kings players retire as losers to Oilers. Brown, kopitar and doughty.
Lets go Oil!!!!
Kopitar is good player. But hes no Mcdavid.
The team has improved year over year in those 4 years IMO . They'll have another strong offseason coupled with these playoff experiences and progress even further next year . I remember the Oil getting bounced early a few times before a deep run . It's a hard trophy to win and the differences between these teams are miniscule …
