  1. There's no doubt these coaches are both good options for the Bruins. Personally, I don't enjoy the whole just rolling out the red carpet and giving family members and friends/people with ties to the area jobs.

Of course that's not the only factor in play here, but to me it shouldn't be a factor at all. I've seen it multiple times in my part of the world where being in an environment where there's numerous family members and friends together does not make for a dynamic where people are all held accountable and where professional behaviour runs throughout.

I think it is about finding the next coach who could be as good as Sullivan, Tocchet, or someone like Jon Cooper, who has won multiple Stanley Cups in Tampa.

  2. Marco Sturm looks like a great fit, but Sweenis' ass is on the line, as this coming season is a contract year for Donny boy. He'll try to get one of these two, if not both (losing out on their first choice).

  3. id bring sully back for sure. although he was our coach during the epic collapse against montreal in 04, i still think about that one occasionally.

  4. Interesting, … the talking heads on radio do NOT like the idea of coaching a son-in-law
Personally, I want Sullivan as I see him as the best coach for the job. He'd be a better choice that a retread older coach who doesn't play rookies or youth, from Providence.

BUT end of day, I am not overly confident in the GM and President, as they want the safe route. There's no way they can pass the blame off any longer, on coaches. Too many Jack Adams have coached, been fired, then gone on to win or go deep in playoffs!

  5. I am with you: Sullivan is the fit for Boston and Tocchet is the fit for Philly. The real question is: who becomes my ISLES GM?

  6. I would like the Bruins to hire Mike Sullivan. He is very knowledgeable and experienced. I dont want Rick Tocchet. He would be great in Philly. I dont want Tortorella either.

  7. No way Sullivan nepotism Charlie Mac can just float along without a care in the world just like he did last year.

  8. We saw how drama played out in Boston. We need hockey leadership and talent.

  9. I like the fact that Sullivan got hired by the Rangers. Wouldn't want him as the Bruins coach, specifically because he's McAvoy's father-in-law. The amount of potential conflict of interest drama that will be a non-stop talking point for anything and everything regarding this team just isn't needed after we already had a year of drama.

  10. Mike Keenan will be Head Coach of the Flyers. In spite of the fact that he had Open heart surgery a year ago and at 75, still has the motivation to Coach.

  11. We must tank next year too. We need to aquire some high pick type prospects to build. Its starts this year but will take time. Years and not months. Its going to be agonizing but the process is a must.

  12. The New York Rangers have hired Mike Sullivan as coach, days after he left his job with the Pittsburgh Penguins. Sullivan's deal is for five years and will make him the highest paid coach in NHL history, sources told ESPN's Emily Kaplan.
