Bad deal. If that is the best NJ can do then keep Quinn for two deep playoff runs then others will want to join the Canucks.

This type of trade really depends on what Vancouver thinks Hughes will do in 2027. If they think Hughes will leave make the trade this year for more value. If Vancouver thinks there is a solid chance Hughes will stay. Then zero chance of a trade. If the fact that Hughes is actually planning on leaving ever goes public and it’s true. Then Vancouver will lose value
Sorry, the trade must include: Nico Hischier, Simon Nemac, 2025 1st rounder and a good prospect. What? Oh you are asking why would Devils do this? Simple. The Canucks would trade him to another team and who knows if Quinn would want to go back to the Devils. Yes I know, he wants to play with his brothers but the Devils have an opportunity of a lifetime to be the only Nhl team to negotiate for Quinn.

This is a trade package that is not enough for Vancouver while simultaneously being too much for Jersey. If Quinn was a player who didn’t have a clear incentive to go to Jersey, then yea that’s way too little for a player like him. On the same note, Jersey knows no one would offer a package close to that for a two year rental so they probably don’t have to put up all of those pieces.

We really have little to no chance of winning a cup in two years. I really do not see a reason Quin would want to stay. How long can they ride him. He is great but Management and ownership keep fumbling and bumbling. You could get a kings ransom for Quin and try to right the ship. Like every move they make get the ship listing to where it would not take much to tip. Last season it looked like they were going in the right direction then screwed it up again. Back to the drawing board. And in far worse shape than three years ago. I get frustrated that management will try for a quick fix again and come out the loser again. Kind of like putting tires on a vehicle and then intentionally leaving the lugs loose. You go down the road so far the tires fall off.
