Should the Islanders trade down in the NHL Draft?
I thought of the same trade scenario as well. I don’t know if they’ll do it, but if this kid is supposed to be generational, then Sam Dickinson is nothing compared to that.

Grier is too smart. Trading picks would include probably a 3rd round pick. This is not a generational player.

islanders have not had a 100 point scorer since pierre turgeon during the 1992-1993 season they need a offensive superstar and that player is misa
i do not want to spend the number 1 pick on a defensman when we cant score. sure he can skate has nice hands but he is not filled out and has a bad shot from the blue line misa has the talent to be one of the best offensive players in the game..
only one time since 2007 has a defenseman picked first in the nhl draft islanders do not waste your future pick misa..

If Lou was still Gm he would have traded the no.1 pick for a 35+ year old but on a serious note I hope we don’t trade down. How often do you get a number pick especially after we had a 3.5% chance of winning.
Life long fan, get schaefer and get rid of Dobson, why the Dobson love, he stinks, worst defender, minimal offense although good, slow, soft on wall, never picks up a guy burned on blue line, terrible, never pay him, get trade pic or dobson for Dickinson,save $ for big strong defensive all around better prospect
I would keep the first pick, and try to trade back in with Chicago for Hagens (work out a package with Dobson as the centerpiece.)
Get Hagens and maybe try and trade back into first and grab Radim Mrtka if they can. Shafer injuries concern me and he’s only what 17 or 18
Do you think the Isles will accept the trade if the Sharks trade their own 1st round pick + the Stars' 1st round pick this year instead? I personally think it would make the most sense if the Isles trade down w/ the Preds or Flyers as both teams already have 2 late 1sts each, and there's not that many ways they can make good use of them other than maybe flipping one of them for either a player or trading up their own pick
Hi Matt,a question about search for Islanders GM, what u think about former Rangers GM O’Neill( if he is still in ice hockey )or giving Garth Snow, he did make a mistake by not trading Trator Taveris or not hiring good coaches but he did make some good trades like Leedy or changing draft with Edmonton to pick Barzell or some good drafts. The current roster has most of his draftees.
NY Islanders for sure need to make trades, and NY Islanders for sure need the big, elite proven talented players to get on the roster now.
You look at the NHL playoffs and we can just see it—the elite players on excellent playoff teams, simple.
