La situation très préoccupante s’est produite … (Joel Quenneville a embauché)

1. Quenneville is an all time great coach. He'll make the Ducks much better. People make mistakes, and maybe he didn't handle the Beach incident in the best way, but I don't think anyone should be banned forever because of something they didn't actually do. Aldritch is the guy that should be black listed from hockey

  2. I know it's not fully Ducks related but you should check out the Ducks players that are in the Men's Worlds Tournament. Cutter had a goal and an assist against Denmark in a 5-0 win. Nothing for Lacombe but he's also on Team USA. Leo had a goal and Isac Lundestrom had an assist fpr Sweden in game 1 in a 5-0 win against Slovakia. No points for either in game 2 but they won that game too. I'm really happy that they're getting this opportunity to play with and learn from the best players around the league. Can't wait for next season!

  3. High standards for the Ducks moving forward. That includes play and conduct. Anything less will be unacceptable. It's put up or shut up time!

  4. Great move Ducks. The NHL is about winning, not safety, and this cements that the Ducks are serious about winning at all costs. Q didn’t know about anything and Toews was telling the truth and everyone else is a liar. Kyle Beach was always going to be a bust anyways and Brad Aldrich was misunderstood

  5. I'm not sure what you expect the Ducks or Quenneville to do at this point? The incident was 15 years ago and at worse Quenneville ignored it while focused on bringing a Cup to Chicago. Quenneville was NOT the perpetrator. Quenneville has paid a price both professionally and financially. He's done the necessary work to educate himself and he has publicly apologized to the community and the victim. I'm not sure why you are holding on to this so intensely. You weren't the victim. It's not healthy to obsess over this. The NHL gave Quenneville the green light to start working in the league again. That should be the end of it.

  6. This is the best coach hiring the Ducks could possibly dream of….remember FLORIDA had at the time the best record in hockey when Q resigned

  7. The ducks did more work bringing everything up and being transperant about the situation than the oilers did with Stan Bowman in 2024, he seems genuine and the Samuelis also do a ton of work with organizations so they seem to be on the same page as Joel

That being said, I’m cautiously optimistic about it but he deserves a chance with the ducks!

  8. I’m so torn because the Ducks desperately need a good coach. On the other hand, when you know someone is hurting another person, it is your responsibility to help them. I think I’m more upset with the Ducks front office vs Q in this case. To me, the Ducks preach about loving their community but I don’t really buy that. Everything they do is for attention and they preach inclusivity and then they hire coach Q. I’m not sure if this was more of Verbeek’s old boys club idea or if the Samueli’s were in on it. The whole things just smells bad to me. I’ll continue to watch every game from home but the whole Ducks org seems like it’s lost their love for the fans so I won’t be attending games for the foreseeable future.

  9. Was starting to come around to the hire until he mentioned puck possession. Hopefully He meant how to manage it defensively.. not another dump n chase system please..
Either way I think Woodcroft woulda been a better hire.

  10. Your thoughts are stupid. But of course you are a ducks fan and don't know nothing about the real world outside of orange county.

  11. This year will need a high level of visibility and scrutiny. I am all for reform, Learn from mistakes or poor decisions, take accountability, take steps to heal and make amends. But I am still concerned about the culture that could be created. Coach Q is obviously a talented coach that was part of a Dynasty. But even then there were rumors of a hostile and difficult locker room. I'd like to see coach Q show what he has learned, for there to be consistent community out reach, and for him to be a Player first coach and cares about culture and community. As much as Eakins sucked as a coach, he was generally well liked for what he did in the community.

  12. I feel like it's gonna be fine. I am not convinced we are bona fide contenders after this hire, but it's gonna be alright. It might be a controversial thing to say, but I think his mistake is not something to be forever cancelled for. He was a part of the Hawks organisation back then, and f hawks.

I love my ducks too much to give up on them over some convoluted morality-related issue from the past. I just hope it's worth it in the end.

And yeah, we must be used to being villains.

  13. So, this is a weird situation. When I first heard of this news I was devastated. Knowing that my favorite organization goes on to hire someone who appeared to be complicit in SAS (remove the last S), was a spit in the face of a fan. However, looking and hearing what I've got so far, it does appear that Joel is ready change and start anew. I imagine that any team that took him would have faced some backlash from their fanbase, its just that Anahiem was the one organization first willing take that risk. As I have been throughout the last 2 seasons, I am caustiously optimistic with this now.

  14. I would have loved to see a new fresh young coach to coach our young core of prospects and stars. But now we get an old guy with old thoughts about hockey. Yes, he wins…but, 2010 still lingers sadly. And Verbeek hiring a buddy, that does not really look good on paper either. I shall keep an open mind when the season starts, but right now…not pleased sadly.

  15. This is the same "comprehensive review" as when Columbus hired Babcock, by asking Babcock's best friends what they thought of him. The media are carrying a lot of water for this guy, who has continually lied about what happened and failed to warn any of the high school/colleges a sex offender got work at based on Quenneville's own recommendations made after the sex offender was cut loose by Chicago. His second chance was letting school programs know the danger of hiring a sex offender he couldn't say enough great things about. It's a lot of ick for a team that took its name from a kid's Disney movie about young hockey players.

  16. They will fire him next year because he can't make a team full of guys that should be in the AHL win….
Coaches are only a small part of a winning team.
You need the players, depth, and a system they ALL jive with.

  17. I don't think someone who is partially at fault for permanent harm should be given a temporary punishment. He made a decision that contributed to something truly awful and irreparable. This isn't about "cancel culture" as other commenters have mentioned, it's about accountability and consequences for actions. In my opinion, Quenneville should've been blacklisted from the NHL. He has money, he's had wins, and he's had a career. I love the Ducks, but for how important community is portrayed to be to the team… this just doesn't sit right with me.

  18. As a hawks fan for the past 20 years, I understand the concern about the shady events coach Q has been involved with, but maybe the Ducks hired him because they want a real coach for once… maybe they just want to win a few games next year.

  19. Kind of feels like a planned out NHL strategy to bring Q back. Plant him in a small market, non-playoff team to weasel back in slightly unnoticed. I don't know, I think if someone didn't commit a crime but made poor judgement calls that lead to more harm there has to be an end date on that ban. It's not like they're reinstating Brad Aldrich or anything. It's a crappy feeling at first but a lot of famous people have done F'ed up things and they're still in the spotlight, that's just how it goes. Chris Brown, Mike Tyson, Christian Slater, Mark Walhberg, just to name a few who DIRECTLY committed crimes. In the end people will still attend the games and the show goes on if you like it or not.

  20. This headline is getting old and annoying. People are quite literally acting like he’s the abuser. I really can’t wait for him to get this team back to the playoffs so people can align themselves closer to our true values and that’s winning trumps everything else unfortunately, even with what happened. Just watch, nobody will be complaining about coach Q when we’re the division champs again, guaranteed.
