  1. I can't imagine why he would leave that fan base after wasting 9 years of his career to go to the team that he grew up cheering for! What a bunch of idiots. He did more for their communities then likely anyone in the stands or even on their team now and that's the way they treat him.

  2. 4 years, and it's still the same result we all feel the same way we did. 1967.

  3. Lol I felt bad for JT going through that, but they’re passionate fans and it was like a bad breakup

  4. As someone who hates the Islanders and is indifferent towards the Leafs, I got significant levels of joy watching the Canes eliminate the Isles and then saw Tavares send the Leafs to the second round. Salt on an open wound. Beautiful!

  5. Welp look he strung isles fans along making us think he wanted to stay on LI and sign a Long term UFA deal. He told the organization not to trade him even at the TD in 2017-18 when we could have gotten a pretty good return for him. I blame the former minority owner Charles Wang and his hand picked toadie/GM Garth Snow for this debacle. And by the time Lou and Barry got to long island it was too late he was a goner. The Islanders should've traded him to a contender like say Dallas or SJ then he could've went to Toronto from there.

  6. I loved JT and still do, but he would have won a cup had he stayed with the Isles. If the NYI still had him, he would have gotten them past the TBL in the second ECF as they lost 1-0 in the 7th game. The Isles needed a tiny bit more offensive help, and he would have gotten them over the hump. But I do understand his wanting to go to his home city with his wife to raise a family there.

  7. May be a small Maple Leafs fan, but Islanders fans in my opinion were completely justified in booing Tavares. He promised he loved it in NY, but then stabbed Isles fans in the back by going to his hometown of Toronto. New York Islanders fans are extremely passionate fans, and they can remember just as good as Leafs fans.

  8. Those who don’t know: So Tavares basically was really good as an Islanders and in several interviews he stated that he loved being on Long Island and loved the team and said that he wants to stay. The Islanders management believed him and offered him a deal in free agency but Toronto offered him a deal too and he left the Islanders for Toronto. So basically he lied to management, and the Islanders fans are angry about him lying because it he wanted to leave, he could’ve been truthful and we could’ve traded him and gotten value, but instead he lied and left. So islander fans aren’t mad that he left, they are mad because HOW he left.

  9. Absolutely embarrassing on behalf of Islander fans. Acting so hard and tough through plexus glass etc, having a hard time accepting that a guy preferred to go home rather than stay. Islander fans will always be known as the bitches to the Rangers and to NY in general.
